The State Street Global Advisors (SSGA) Chief Operating Officer (COO) is seeking to hire a Global Head of Data, Analytics & AI Services (GHDAAIS). This role will report directly to the SSGA COO and will play a critical role in defining and leading the strategy, delivery and management of all data, analytics and artificial intelligence technology services provided to the Global Advisors business at State Street. The GHDAAIS will be a strategic partner and advisor to the COO for all the data, analytics and artificial intelligence services supporting the COO organizational delivery of the technology platforms in a federated model to Global Advisors, State Street, and our clients. The GHDAAIS will function as the central point of coordination for all dat ingestion, platforms, data architecture and governance related services working closely with the State Street affiliates, Global Technology Services (GTS) and other third-party vendors used within the SSGA ecosystem globally. The leader and their organization will provide strategic data, analytics, and artificial intelligence architectural guidance to the COO Organizational delivery of technology platforms and services, provide governance and oversight according to the GTS data architectural standards and provide an operating model to enable federated technology delivery against a target end state data ecosystem blueprint. They will engage all COO functions and their respective business domains functions for daily execution and delivery of the business capabilities and workflows leveraging the data platforms. In addition, the GHDAAIS will be the conduit of key GTS data technology, risk, security, and data governance information flow to the COO leadership team, SSGA businesses and associated functions enabling an orchestrated, optimal operating model for the Global Advisors data technology, artificial intelligence and business services platforms. 

This GHDAAIS role will include strategic, operational, project and relationship management responsibilities collaborating in a product, platform, and services operating model with their peers on the COO’s senior leadership team and colleagues and peers within Global Advisors (GA) and the wider State Street organization. The role will manage a multi-functional global data, analytics and artificial intelligence technology and data governance and management business delivery organization enabling the platforms and business services provided to the GA business. The role will provide an opportunity to work across Global Advisors, State Street Global Technology Services, State Street Bank and Holding Company, the broader investment management industry with key strategic business partners. The key objectives are to define the future state data, analytics and artificial intelligence technology platforms and data services blueprint supporting the Global Advisors business, standardize, simplify, and rationalise the data footprint with the continued governance monitoring of GA data and the associated data management operating model. The introduction of artificial intelligence services and practises will be key to ensuring we are leveraging modern technology components and capabilities at scale and data workflows are designed end to end within the technology platforms transforming how the business operates today increasing our operating leverage and competitive advantage in the marketplace. The leader will be accountable for driving results, supporting strategic initiatives, improving processes, fostering collaboration and alignment, to achieve a scalable, resilient, and business capability driven data, analytics and artificial intelligence technology ecosystem supporting the Global Advisors business in the future.

As a key stakeholder in enabling the COO organization’s ability to execute on their priorities, the successful candidate will be highly resourceful, self-motivated and possess strong written and verbal communication, multi-functional organizational management and data technology and data analytical skills. The individual will also possess a high level of personal and professional integrity and sound judgment with the ability to work effectively with senior business leaders across Global Advisors and State Street corporation.

Responsibilities

Management of the Data, Analytics & AI Services organization

  • Partners with COO leadership team to set strategic and operational objectives, aligning to GA strategic priorities, to ensure the COO organization is exceeding in technology and business service delivery against a defined target state data blueprint.
  • Builds strong relationships across the COO, GA and State Street Executive Leadership team and their leadership teams to drive oversight and governance to meet data governance standards that are set.
  • Partner with COO senior leadership team to actively identify and implement process changes and organizational optimization as part of the data and artificial intelligence transformation strategy.
  • Accountability for developing a strong risk and control culture across all regions embedding the control frameworks within the data technology platforms and business processes/services.
  • Drives organizational, team and individual development enhancing productivity, team collaboration against defined measurable outcomes.
  • Responsible for working with the GA business organizations and COO Leadership team to enable the future state data and analytical technology platforms and ecosystem in the public cloud environment in a componentized, containerized and service-based architecture. Developing 3-year data and artificial intelligence roadmaps that align to the target end state blueprint per functional area and prioritizing the technology and business services delivery against the business outcomes and desired data technology ecosystem.
  • Manages and delivers the data and artificial intelligence transformation program in collaboration with the GTS State Street Organization defining the future state operating model for the deployment of both the data technology and artificial intelligence services and capabilities.
  • Leverages the latest data, analytical technology and artificial intelligence to transform the way the business services are provided; data and insights are consumed reducing operational risk, standardizing how the global advisor’s business operates and enhancing operating leverage for the future.

Strategic Initiatives (SI)

  • Defines and manages data, analytical and artificial intelligence related projects/initiatives and commitments aligned to both the COO and GA key priorities encompassing the GTS requirements in cross organizational delivery. In partnership with other key members of the COO leadership team, the GHDATBAIS develops their organizations critical path projects delivering on the shared organizational objectives and goals. Ensures alignment among key stakeholders, i.e., Investments, Global Client Coverage Group (CCG), Chief Business Office (CBO), Technology and Business Architecture and corporate functions, particularly GTS.
  • Enables the delivery of modern technology architecture components and capabilities supporting an evolving business services roadmap encompassing global multi asset classes and alternatives.
  • Identifies risks and issues that could impact the successful execution of strategic priorities; escalates issues which the CIO and COO should be aware of and presents solutions to resolve the root cause and/or mitigate the risk.
  • Leads special projects/programs whether M&A or partnerships with external companies providing the conduit to the GTS Data organization for their involvement in these initiatives.
  • Partners on GA/COO organizational initiatives driving operational efficiencies, risk excellence and an improved client & employee end-user experience.

Future State Data and Artificial Intelligence Ecosystem

  • Partners with the COO leadership team, and other GA Senior leaders to define the future data, analytical and artificial intelligence platform and services strategy for the GA business globally.
  • Defines through collaboration the target state strategy for how GA will leverage the latest data, analytical and artificial intelligence technologies to manage risk and improve operating leverage as the business grows.
  • Partners with Corporate Teams, COO leadership team and SSGA Finance on strategic plan development and off-cycle adjustments to the plan.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 20 years of executive management experience in financial services data technology.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in leadership roles including technology strategy, multi-year transformational program delivery and data and artificial intelligence strategy.
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience in managing, leading and developing global high performing cross organizational teams focused on data and analytics technology architecture and business service delivery.
  • Minimum of 15 years of Institutional Asset Management or Wealth Management experience preferred.
  • Global multi-jurisdictional experience preferred.
  • Undergraduate Degree required in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence or engineering.

Advanced master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MSc, PHD) in computer science, data science or engineering preferred.

Salary Range:

$225,000 - $337,500 Annual
