Description

The Fleet Diesel Mechanic is responsible for maintaining diesel equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements, correcting vehicle deficiencies, adjusting and alignments, keeping records.

Responsibilities: 

• Basic vehicle repairs and maintenance such as but not limited to:
• Lighting systems
• Brake systems
• Body & cab repairs
• Refrigeration units
• Tires and other mechanical repairs
• Receives general instructions on what is to be done, limitations, quality and quantity expected, deadlines, and priority of assignments from Team leader. 
• Must be capable of climbing on the roof and interstitial spaces in all weather conditions to service various equipment and components (as needed)
• Must be willing to be trained in repairing pneumatic, hydraulics, and most mechanics involved with common industrial equipment, such as drives and gear boxes
• Assist with any maintenance reporting or department paperwork as necessary
• Must be able to communicate with Supervision, Quality Assurance and Safety

Salary - $25.00 Hourly 

Education and Qualifications:

• Minimum three (3) years of Truck Mechanic experience
• High School Diploma or GED
• Uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instruction but receives additional specific instructions from Team leader for new, difficult, or special projects/assignments
• Must have valid drivers license/endorsements and be able to safely operate the equipment they will be working on
• Responsible (with department supervisor) for ensuring that any procedures, and/or practices within the department, are being followed
• Must be able to work as a team within the department as well as work with all personnel in the facility
• Must be willing and able to perform other job functions as needed
• Must be capable and willing to learn new equipment and willing to attend schools necessary for the job
