We are looking for a fluent Welsh speaker to join our existing Welsh Language team based in Cardiff. You will speak Welsh with colleagues all day. Team meetings and other activities on the team will be a mix of Welsh language and English language.

This is an exciting opportunity to get involved with a unique team within HMRC. You would develop your existing skills and experience to produce high quality customer focused Welsh language material, translations, and services.

Job description

As a Welsh Language Business Manager you will lead a small team that sit at the heart of the transformation and development of our Welsh language services and meet the Department’s need to encourage customers to use online services in Welsh.

You will work closely with Welsh Language Senior Business managers, a team of translators and the Head of Welsh Language Services in HMRC and be involved in a wide range of subjects using modern technology and agile methods.

Person specification

You will be a great communicator, in writing and verbally, able to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when balancing our varied workload and customer needs on a relatively small team that puts the customer at the heart of everything they do.

You’ll need to be comfortable with many digital platforms, spreadsheets, Welsh language and be flexible and understanding of the demands placed upon us.

You’ll have previous experience of delivering success and actions at pace whilst managing varying workloads.

Essential Criteria:

Fluent and confident Welsh speaking and writing skills.

Knowledge and understanding of Welsh language customer needs.

Excellent drafting skills to draft and implement comprehensive action plans and notes to support stakeholder management.

Strong organisational skills, negotiation, interpersonal skills, and ability to work at pace.

Confident in the use of different types of software used in the production of translated documents.

Experience of managing Welsh Language Complaints.

Leading a team to deliver change in a fast-paced environment.

Pro-actively identify ways to develop team processes.

Successful candidate must be Bilingual (Welsh & English).

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of dealing with third party suppliers on Welsh language form design
  • SharePoint intranet publishing experience
  • Experienced Line manager

Languages

Fluent and confident Welsh speaking and writing skills.

Benefits
