Animal Lab Technician II - Lab Animal Facilities
To collaborate in providing specialized animal husbandry services for animals in biomedical research consistent with applicable federal regulations and guidelines. To maintain sanitation of laboratory equipment and supplies and to document and maintain applicable records.
High School Diploma or GED plus (1) year experience in the care of laboratory animals.
Certifications, Licenses or Registration required: AALAS Certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level (or higher). "R" (Registered) maintained.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures. Knowledge of animal husbandry, facility management, and animal health and welfare. Interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and/or maintain animal husbandry records. Ability to operate sanitation equipment such as cage washer and floor scrubber.

Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional travelling to offsite locations, constant bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, frequent crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more).
