Job Summary

Handles the operational side of assigned break bulk cargo shipments, which cover all directions, worldwide. Analyzes, tracks, and reports shipments using MSC proprietary system, excel reports and Power BI.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicates and coordinates with various departments in MSC and 3rd parties (e.g. ports, terminals & vendors) to ensure the smooth transportation of Break bulk cargo; Proposes solutions to operational problems.
  • Monitors, tracks, and reports shipments using MSC proprietary IT system along with excel reports and Power BI.
  • Constantly assesses and understands risk and ensures the safety standards are observed at every step of the process.
  • Evaluates the operational feasibility of the break bulk cargo transportation, in collaboration with terminals and vendors.
  • Proactively tracks project details and develops contingencies for potential issues with movement timelines; Provides a timely and accurate response to customer’s inquiries regarding transportation milestones and shipment details.
  • Follows up project cargo shipments from origin to destination; Enters and monitors shipment information using our MSC proprietary IT system.
  • Assumes documentary and customer service responsibility for all assigned shipments; Maintains efficient ocean shipments documentation and correspondence.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with customers and vendors; Liaises with shippers, consignees, government agencies, stevedores, terminals, and overseas offices, as necessary.
  • Escalates unique or complex customer issues to the appropriate supervisor for resolution when necessary.
  • Maintains export, import and foreign to foreign regulation knowledge of countries and document changes.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Key Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, analytics, supply chain or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in supply chain, transportation, shipping, logistics, preferred.
  • Experience analyzing data and trends
  • English: advanced
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Organized, efficient, and able to manage time effectively
  • Strong customer service mindset, focused, and responsive
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Great team player
  • Knowledge of MS Excel with the ability to learn new software
