The Department of Geology & Geophysics is hiring a cook for their annual Field Camp. Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner for participants at Field Camp including preparation of meals during long-week camping trips. Maintain kitchen for duration of Field Camp. This position is based at the LSU Charles Barney Field Camp Station in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position runs for 7 weeks from May 21-July 2. All lodging and food will be provided. Provide two references.
Duties include:
50% The head cook will coordinate work schedules and tasks for 3 assistant cooks including days off for themselves and the assistants. The head cook will create menus and shopping lists for meals for ~20 people for 7 days a week breakfast is prepared by the cooking staff 6 days a week, lunch foods are set out for students to create their own meals 7 days a week, and dinner is prepared by the cook staff 7 days a week.
25% The head cook must be willing to work in a kitchen set in a unique, outdoor high elevation setting while also accommodating for student dietary restrictions and also being able to cook on camping trips. The head cook also needs to coordinate the procurement of the food items, whether it be purchased through a large distributor like Sysco or from local grocery stores.
25% Commute to town for camp business(grocery store, bank, post office, etc). Supervise in the the opening and closing at the beginning and end of camp.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma with specific requirements: Must be able to work in outdoor high elevation setting. This position is based at the LSU Charles Barney Field Camp Station in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Must possess a valid driver's license.
