SUMMARY

Welsbach Electric Corp. of L.I. is seeking an experienced Accounting Clerk with a minimum of 3-5 years accounting and payroll experience, preferably in a union construction environment. This position will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting activities and month-end close processes.

Compensation Range: $25.00 to $30.00 an hour, Full Time, Onsite

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned, cross training with Accounts Payable will be expected to ensure we are always covered in all areas.

Payroll

  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of weekly union and non-union payrolls. This position is solely responsible for processing union payroll.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including new hires, terminations, salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Including accurate and timely completion of internal and external payroll reporting requirements.
  • Review and prepare Union Benefit Reports, Certified Payroll Reports, OCIP/Insurance Reports, Construction Employment Reports and M/WBE Reports as required.
  • A focus on detail is critical in this position.

Accounts Receivable

  • Collect and record checks, ACH and wires received.
  • Update daily cash tracking and reporting.
  • Prepare various accounts receivable reports and analysis.
  • Analyze accounts receivable aging reports to identify overdue accounts and develop a collections strategy.
  • Prepare the month end process

Dispatching

  • As needed, answer phones and schedule service needed
  • Communicate with techs immediately the service needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of service requests.

QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2-5 years working in an accounting and financial role with payroll experience required, preferably in a union construction environment.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines governing financial and accounting practices.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel formulas and formatting.
  • Proficient with payroll and accounting software.
  • Familiarity with Windows based operating systems and web-based applications.
  • Ability to create, file and manage electronic documents.
