Job Summary:
The Demand and Fulfillment Planner is a crucial role within the organization, overseeing demand forecasting, inventory management, and the implementation of optimization strategies across our extensive network of stores in Canada. This position involves close collaboration within a POD structure to effectively manage a business segment. Within the POD structure, each team member plays a distinct role focused on delivering key KPIs related to sales, gross margins, and inventory productivity.

Key Responsibilities:
Demand Forecasting & Replenishment Planning
- Leverage forecasting software to generate precise demand forecasts by analyzing historical sales data, trends, and seasonality.
- Integrate promotional schedules, marketing campaigns, and market intelligence into forecasting models to better anticipate shifts in consumer demand.
- Implement replenishment strategies that ensure optimal inventory levels, aligning closely with projected demand, while minimizing stockouts and excess inventory.
- Continuously monitor demand patterns and external factors (e.g., economic shifts, supply chain disruptions) and adjust forecasts and replenishment plans accordingly to maintain alignment with changing market conditions.
Purchase Order Management & Optimization
- Generate purchase orders by analyzing demand forecasts, sales trends, and real-time inventory data to maximize stock availability.
- Partner with suppliers and supply chain teams to ensure smooth order processing and timely delivery.
- Continuously track and manage purchase order progress from initiation to fulfillment, ensuring on-time delivery.
- Align purchase orders with budgetary constraints and broader organizational objectives to maintain cost-efficiency and meet business goals.
Supply Chain Collaboration & Risk Mitigation
- Monitor shipment progress in real-time to ensure timely delivery and minimize disruptions.
- Proactively address inventory risks, such as delays or shortages, to maintain stock levels and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with the supply chain team to optimize purchase order processing and ensure smooth inventory flow from procurement to distribution.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with vendors, supply chain teams, and other departments to streamline purchase order processes, address inventory challenges, and ensure seamless coordination across procurement, inventory, and distribution.
- Foster a collaborative culture within the POD to ensure transparent communication and alignment with organizational goals.
- Share and highlight initiatives that drive inventory optimization, sales growth, and preparedness for peak demand, providing insights and visibility across teams.
- Provide supporting data and evidence on executed initiatives to demonstrate their impact on inventory optimization and business performance.
- Produce ad hoc reports to improve visibility into inventory levels, receipt trends, projected requirements, risk management opportunities, and insights for optimizing replenishment planning.
What you Bring
Desired Attributes and Qualifications:
- Relevant Experience – A degree and/or 5+ years of experience in retail operations, demand planning, inventory management, or supply chain management.
- Technical Proficiency – Strong intermediate to advanced skills in MS Excel. Experience with SQL for database management, VBA for task automation within Microsoft Office applications, and Python for advanced data analysis is a plus, though not required.
- Supply Chain Knowledge – A solid understanding of procurement, logistics, warehousing, and distribution processes.
- Analytical & Forecasting Expertise – Strong data analysis skills for interpreting sales trends, forecasting demand, and optimizing inventory. Familiarity with forecasting and demand planning software would be an asset.
- Adaptability & Flexibility – Comfortable working in hybrid environments and adjusting to evolving market conditions and business requirements.
- Strong Time Management & Organizational Skills – Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain efficient operations across various processes.
- Collaborative Team Player – Skilled in communicating and coordinating effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Attention to Detail – Strong attention to detail in managing purchase orders, inventory records, and ensuring accuracy in forecasts.
