Position Summary:
The role of the Dean of the California School of Education includes academic leadership and business management. The role of the Dean is to provide inspirational, innovative and enterprising academic and business management leadership. The Dean is responsible for ensuring that the school achieves its plans and objectives, meets the highest academic standards and relevant accreditations, and supports the achievement of the University's mission, vision and overall objectives. The principal measures that will be assessed in determining the success of the Dean's efforts will be student outcomes, recruitment and retention of qualified students and instructors, the reputation of the school and its economic strength. While this is a predominantly remote position, essential functions of the role include the ability and availability of the Dean to attend in-person events, including accreditation visits and commission meetings, commencements, convocations, orientations, academic retreats, board meetings, meetings with university leaders, partners, alumni, and student groups, and other stakeholders as identified.
Salary Range: $170,000 - 200,000 annualized.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: A doctoral degree, from an accredited college or university, in a discipline that is within the scope of the school’s program.
Experience:
- Prior proven leadership in an organization of significant scale.
- A record of effective communications and thought leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to create a compelling vision, formulate a plan of action in pursuit of that vision, mobilize others in support of the vision and the plan, and achieve plan goals and objectives in a timely manner and in alignment with professional trends and academic standards.
- A clear understanding of and respect for the traditions, values and distinctive attributes of institutions of higher education as reflected by the American postsecondary tradition and practices.
- At least 3 years of service as a Dean, Associate Dean, or Assistant Dean overseeing a teaching credential program (5 years preferred).
- 5-10 Years of experience and evidence of successful leadership in higher education and management roles.
- Experience as a faculty member and academic administrator.
- Evidence of effective strategic planning and implementation experience.
- Experience in facilitating learning.
- Evidence of scholarship productivity.
- Financial management and budgeting experience.
Licensure, Certifications, etc.: Teaching credential preferred, not required.

- Academic Responsibilities: Provide oversight of all academic aspects of the California School of Education (CSOE) including:
- Oversight of academic curriculum.
- Oversight of school-wide policies and procedures including admissions, curriculum, institutional aid, grading, etc.
- Compliance with WASC guidelines and standards.
- Compliance with California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) regulations and requirements.
- Compliance with other requisite specialty accreditation guidelines, including preparation of self-studies and hosting on-site visits.

- Management of the School budget.
- Governance and Planning:
- Provide innovative, creative and entrepreneurial leadership regarding the strategic direction of CSOE and its programs.
- Participate in university governance and planning by serving on the President’s Cabinet and Academic Council.
- Develop a growth strategy for the school that is synergistically related to and supportive of the strategic operating goals and objectives of the University and its mission, including close collaboration with colleagues from across the University.
- Academic Leadership and Organizational Administration Experience: Provide academic and organizational leadership, with emphasis on facilitating faculty engagement in:
- Upholding the mission of CSOE as a major academic entity of Alliant International University, a professional practice university.
- Assuring the highest quality of education and training for students in CSOE's professional programs through active support of faculty in their various activities and overall performance.
- Assuring compliance with, even exceeding, relevant certification and accreditation requirements and standards.
- Managing and enhancing the resources requisite to the delivery of CSOE's programs.
- Developing strategic planning that advances CSOE's overall growth and health moving forward.
- Designing innovative curricula, in collaboration with the faculty, to address the changing demands of the profession and the environment in which it operates, including expansion of delivery models and extension into new market segments.
- Initiate, develop, and sustain strategic partnerships to drive new student enrollment growth, enhance programmatic experiences, and strengthen the quality and relevance of academic programs, fostering innovation and collaboration across institutional and community stakeholders.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary and interdepartmental collaboration throughout the Alliant system.
- Oversee Alumni development.
- Foster marketing and public relations for CSOE to promote its programs including attending events, commencements, meeting with partners.
- Serve as the external liaison between CSOE-Alliant and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) and other licensing and accreditation entities.
- Ensure CSOE’s commitment to an integrated approach to multicultural and international competencies inside and outside the classroom leading to a faculty and staff development program, curricular transformation, and positive student and faculty morale.
- Foster faculty and staff trainings related to ethics, professionalism, and Inclusive Excellence that align with the University's commitment to diversity, multicultural, intercultural, and equality initiatives and practices.
- Perform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned or directed.

Contact Responsibility:
Internal: This position interacts with colleagues in multiple departments in the Alliant International University system, and in particular with the Deans, Vice Presidents, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Admissions and Alumni Affairs.
External: Specialty accreditors, Partner Schools, Advisory committees, Alumni.

Office Location: Remote.
