Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Lab Chemist who will be primarily responsible for performing regeneration of water treatment to provide sufficient boiler water make up.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in operating equipment like spectrophotometer and ICP-MS &TOC
  • The candidate must be able to handle and operate various wet lab instruments especially Discrete analyzer, pH / EC / TDS meters, ovens, COD, BOD, HACH Spectrophotometer etc
  • Able to perform method validation and verification using instruments like ICP-MS &TOC
  • Perform onsite physical parameters as per client requirements
  • Supporting other Chemists during analysis
  • Compile the analytical data for review and maintain CRM stock
  • Prepare the reagents, standard solution and ensure standardization of the solution used before the titration
  • Handling and storage of all chemicals as per the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
  • Managing the calibration of glassware and the instruments
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis of samples as per standard methods APHA, Inhouse &US-EPA
  • Perform analysis of water, wastewater, sea water, Effluent water
  • Maintaining ISO 17025 daily record updates
  • Coordinating with the other technicians in the team to carry out work as per the planning schedule
  • Manual handling of samples
  • General maintenance, cleaning and checking of equipment
  • Adherence to quality and safety of Element policy
  • Interaction with clients during witness testing
  • Ensuring compliance to all Element Material Technology quality standards
  • Handle and close Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and implement corrective and preventive measures
  • Contribute to the training and supervision of technicians within the department
  • Follow all safety requirements, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Support other aspects of instrumental organic analytical testing
  • Manage assigned duties efficiently to meet the company’s Turnaround Time (TAT) requirements for reporting
  • Demonstrates expertise in the analysis of data, from the qualitative to the rigorously statistical, strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
  • Reporting to the Laboratory Manager to support the laboratory’s organic chemistry businesses
  • Adhering to the company's Health & Safety and Quality standards and laboratory Practices are mandatory

Skills / Qualifications

  • Typical educational requirements are B.Sc and/or M.Sc. in Chemistry
  • 3+ years’ hands one experience s for the analysis of Potable Water ,effluent water and waters
  • Handlining of equipment trouble shooting
  • Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques demonstrated through a combination of industry and academic performance
  • Should be proficient in ISO-17025:2017 laboratory quality management system
  • Self-motivated team player with excellent organizational and communication skills with an ability to work under pressure
  • Must be a flexible, adaptable, self-driven team player with a positive attitude
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be fluent in both oral and written English
  • Strong analytical, technical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software (LIMS)
  • Proficiency in spectrophometric techniques, specifically ICP-MS and other wet lab instruments
  • Strong background and comprehensive understanding of APHA and US-EPA procedures, specifically for wastewater and marine samples analysis
  • Experience with commercial testing laboratories is highly advantageous
  • Capable of working independently under minimal supervision
