The expectation is once accepting a summer position the staff is required to report to work for the entire summer session. Paid leave is not granted during the summer sessions and staff does not receive benefits of the regular school year (i.e. sick leave, business leave, vacation days, etc.)
Summer program staff must make a commitment to be present for the ENTIRE program including all in-service days, workdays, and student instructional days. Failure to make this commitment may impact future employment with the Summer programs.
JOB SUMMARY
Provides instruction for Summer Program. Uses approved resources to plan instructional opportunities that addresses both academic as well as social-emotional needs of all students. Ensures active student engagement to help ensure appropriate student interactions and behaviors in classrooms and throughout the school. Promotes cooperative and collaborative relationships among and between students. Counsels students when adjustment and academic problems arise. Prepares weekly reports on student progress to share with students. Maintains attendance and other required records.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, prepares and presents lesson plans, assignments, and instructional materials to students in an appropriate fashion.
Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
Uses appropriate instructional strategies to engage students in selected standards.
Monitors student progress using appropriate assessment techniques (graded assignments and assessments as well as through running records and note), prepares weekly parent update on student progress.
Maintains order and discipline in the classroom conducive to effective learning and supervises students in a variety of school related settings, monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.
Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of children.
Keeps attendance and grade records as required by Board Policy/Administrative Regulation.
Counsels pupils when academic and adjustment problems arise, confers with parents and students regarding progress/problems of assigned students.
Attends and actively participates in staff/faculty meetings; and provides input regarding the planning of instructional goals, objectives and methods.
Improves skill and knowledge base in current trends, research and methodology in instructional techniques, technology, multicultural content, problem solving and interdisciplinary connections.
Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
