Purpose of the Job:

This position is part of a team responsible for overseeing the operations of the production plant, working under the guidance of the Production Shift Manager and Team Leader. The role involves conducting chemical and manufacturing processes safely and efficiently. It also focuses on identifying process improvements to enhance the integrity and reliability of the site's assets by effectively utilising Manufacturing Excellence tools.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Ensure the plant operates safely and efficiently. 
  • Suggest enhancements to manufacturing and safety protocols. 
  • Be available for plant coverage outside of regular hours on a voluntary basis, if necessary. 
  • Communicate effectively during shifts and provide handovers to subsequent shifts following site standards. 
  • Support the Engineering team during the annual maintenance shutdown and assist whenever possible at other times. 
  • Help Factory Services with tasks such as tanker loading and unloading, and promptly inform the Shift Manager or Team Leader of any issues or non-compliance. 
  • Report any issues encountered during the shift to the Shift Manager or Team Leader. 
  • Perform assigned plant duties as directed by the Team Leader, which may include housekeeping and thorough cleaning tasks. 
  • Input daily data for OEE and GLA to identify improvement opportunities
  • Actively participate in the operator care program. 
  • Follow the shift production schedule and comply with the Production Shift Handbook. 
  • Organise and maintain batch documentation. 
  • Ensure the efficient handling of raw materials, products, and energy to reduce losses. 
  • Oversee external contractors when necessary and feasible. 

To join our successful team, you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE grade C or above
  • Experience in an industrial or process manufacturing environment
  • Exposure to formal business improvement techniques training
  • Lean manufacturing would be an advantage
  • Good listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to work to deadlines to business demands.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Process Operations (Gold Standard) would be desirable
  • Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence is also desirable
