Position Overview:

Wilsonart in Temple, TX is looking for a Quality and Operational Excellence Manager. 

The Quality and Operational Excellence Manager will lead the deployment of quality assurance principles, structures, and processes for assigned manufacturing operations. This role is instrumental in ensuring product quality aligns with customer and company requirements while fostering operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives. The manager will oversee quality-related processes, including inspections, audits, and RCA/CAPA investigations, while mentoring and developing associates to meet the highest standards of performance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Leadership and Assurance:

  • Lead the development of a QA mindset across the team by providing training, coaching, performance evaluations, and technical support.
  • Oversee the release of finished goods (FG), ensuring production records are accurate, complete, and compliant with standards.
  • Implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS), integrating quality with environmental and health & safety systems.
  • Manage incoming materials through inspection, testing, and control approvals to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a key liaison with clients to resolve quality-related issues, align on standards, and improve customer experiences.
  • Facilitate regular reviews of quality metrics, track KPIs, and coordinate quality improvement initiatives with stakeholders.

Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement:

  • Support and deploy local Quality and Operational Excellence strategies to accelerate operational improvements.
  • Facilitate structured problem-solving frameworks, utilizing RCA and CAPA investigations to resolve deviations, non-conformances, and quality issues.
  • Lead quality improvement teams and initiatives, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Training and Development:

  • Oversee the Quality Training Program for direct and indirect reports, providing technical and functional guidance.
  • Deliver quality-related training to other stakeholders to enhance their understanding of QA principles and processes.

Audits and Compliance:

  • Assist in preparing, handling, and hosting regulatory and customer audits in collaboration with the Quality Compliance team.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP regulations and other applicable quality standards.
  • Conduct regular product audits, quality records reviews, and compliance checks to ensure consistent adherence to standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in quality assurance, product audits, and quality control principles, including GMP regulations and validation processes.
  • At least 3 years of people management experience, with proven ability to mentor and coach quality teams.

Technical Competencies:

  • Proficient in quality management tools, data analysis, and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., RCA, CAPA).
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical acumen, with hands-on experience in quality improvement and process validation.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards, GMP regulations, and other industry requirements.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused, proactive, and solution-oriented, capable of resolving quality challenges efficiently.
  • Organized and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
