Job summary

We are currently looking for two Associate Delivery Managers to join our Delivery team within the Digital and Technology group.

These are full-time opportunities, on a permanent basis. The roles will be based in 10 South Colonnade, Canary Wharf London, E14 4PU or South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Please be aware that these roles can only be worked in the UK and not overseas. 

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible, hybrid way of working, with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role, this can flex up to 12 days a month, with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The Digital and Technology Group (D&T) lies at the heart of the Agency and is responsible for delivering an optimised IT infrastructure and maximising the secure use of data to enable the rest of the organisation to deliver world class services. Its centre of excellence is also responsible for delivering a broad portfolio of change initiatives, both to transform the Agency’s legacy technologies and to deliver innovative new solutions, designed around our customers’ needs. D&T works in a holistic way to combine digital and technology change, project delivery, business process, product management and cultural change to maximise out impact and ensure sustainability.

The Delivery Group function is responsible for providing a Delivery Centre of Excellence to drive an agile approach to technology-based change to deliver minimum viable products (MVP) and continuous improvements and managing all stages of the product development and implementation lifecycle, including business case creation, benefits realisation planning, and management of risks.

Job description

What’s the role?

These roles play a pivotal part in assisting Delivery Managers to change how the Agency delivers digital products and services.

You will support a Delivery Manager on a larger team, providing delivery capability support, under guidance and mentorship or work individually to deliver a smaller initiative.

You will be accountable and responsible for tasks assigned to you, whilst continuously improving on the job.

Key responsibilities: 

  1. Planning and implementing agile ways of working whilst supporting or leading the multi-disciplinary team and suppliers.
  2. Provide support to Delivery team and other Agency colleagues with ad-hoc delivery requirements and queries.
  3. Communicate with key stakeholders to support the resolution of blockers and highlight any dependencies, risks & issues to delivery.
  4. Support or lead Agile ceremonies and or coaching sessions.

Person specification

Our successful candidates will have:

  • A degree in Information Technology or a similar subject, or equivalent relevant experience for the role
  • Good understanding of Agile and Lean tools, and techniques, with an ability to learn on the job to coach others.
  • Experience of challenging and improving disproportionate organisational processes where it impacts the pace of the team
  • Ability to establish and develop productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, bringing people together to benefit delivery.

Benefits

Alongside your salary of £36,395, Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency contributes £10,543 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Find out what benefits a Civil Service Pension provides.

  • Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro-rata for part-time staff. PLUS 8 bank holidays 
  • Privilege Leave: 1 day 
  • Hours of Work: 37 hours (net) per week for full time staff in all geographical locations, including London and pro rata for part-time staff
