HMNB Clyde, Faslane
His Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde (HMNB Clyde) is home to the United Kingdom’s Strategic Nuclear Deterrent, Astute Class Attack Submarines, First Mine Counter Measure Squadron and 43 Cdo Royal Marines. It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clyde’s primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year.
RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Working as a Telephone Authorised Demander within the Deputy Head Infrastructure Directorate, you will be part of a team delivering ICT Services to HMNB Clyde and its off-site stations. You will be delivering customer requirements and technology changes to Telecoms Services for the user community on these sites.
Please note that this role predominantly delivers administrative, project and programme support and is not a technical role, however some technical knowledge/interest would be advantageous.
You will be responsible for managing the Navy Command Procurement process for requesting Telephony services and infrastructure, ensuring regularity, propriety and best value for money, whilst enabling Navy Command to achieve its business objectives and engaging with stakeholders on progress of these requests.
You will act as the focal point for fault reporting, progression, rectification and maintaining a fault log. You will also ensure equipment registers are up to date for all telecoms assets, pagers and mobiles, and Act as the Departmental Local Security Officer.
You will be responsible for regular ad hoc tasking such as maintaining personnel access lists for selected locations on site, providing assistance to Telephony requirements project and other site significant change work packages, and managing, delivering a full audit programme of telecommunications assets.
You will be a team player with an ability to work flexibly across the department, prioritising and managing your own workload amid emerging and conflicting demands in a busy and pressurised environment and providing support to the IT team during busy periods.
Good organisational and administrative skills and a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office software suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and Sharepoint.
Proven ability to work autonomously, be self-starting and proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks at pace while maintaining standards of excellence. Able to multi-task and remain calm, supporting a variety of stakeholders in a fast-paced operational environment with regularly changing priorities.
Able to build and maintain positive professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate confidently at all levels.
Previous working knowledge and experience within an administrative environment, requirements management role or as an Authorised Telecommunications Demander are highly desirable.
A Full UK driving licence is also highly desirable to visit departments and sites across the Clyde Estate.
