Position Purpose:
The Toolmaker II is responsible for laying out, constructing, and assembling tools from Tool Design, Engineering drawings, and/or hand sketches under general supervision. This position requires performing necessary calculations for material requirements, speed and feed calculations, and the setup and operation of tool shop machinery. The Toolmaker II ensures that the tools meet required specifications and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Calculations and Machining:
Perform calculations related to material requirements, including determining the proper materials, speeds, and feeds needed for machining functions.
Select and use appropriate materials to manufacture tooling and parts in compliance with engineering specifications.
Precision Measurement and Quality Control:
Set up and utilize precision measuring tools, such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges, to check and verify the accuracy of fabricated tooling.
Ensure all work is performed with precision, checking for conformance to specifications and quality standards.
Inspect own work and correct any discrepancies or defects prior to final inspection.
Tool Prove-Out and Rework:
Assist with the tool prove-out process on new and reworked tooling to ensure they meet performance standards.
Provide feedback for tool modifications or improvements as necessary.
Safety and Workspace Organization:
Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area, following best practices for tool storage, handling, and workplace cleanliness.

Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall product quality.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of tool fabrication and modifications, including tracking materials used, machine settings, and part specifications.
Other Duties:
Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or department lead to support the goals of the team and company.
Other Requirements:
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required during the fabrication and transportation of materials and tools.
Equipment Handling:
Ability to set up, operate, and maintain tool shop machinery and equipment.
Familiarity with operating cart and forklift equipment for material handling.
Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing (GD&T):
Familiarity with and the ability to apply Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing (GD&T) principles in tool design and machining. Knowledge in GD&T is highly preferred.
Safety Practices:
Must have a strong commitment to workplace safety and the safe operation of machinery and equipment.
Ability to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
Work Schedule:
Ability to work a full shift, with the flexibility to work overtime or adjust hours as required by production demands.
Qualifications:
Skills:
Proficiency in conventional machining techniques.
Experience with precision measuring tools and quality control standards.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Pay Details: $28.75 per hour
