What to Expect

Tesla’s Vehicle Computer Hardware System Validation team is expanding! We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development of BIOS for new product bring-up, integrate firmware packages for contract manufacturers, and maintain testing firmware. You will play a pivotal role in driving projects forward at an accelerated pace by uniting contributions from cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams into robust, scalable solutions. This position is integral to delivering reliable software releases for high-volume production. 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage firmware package releases for vehicle infotainment computers at contract manufacturers
  • Work closely with hardware design, firmware/software development, and contract manufacturing teams to ensure product testability
  • Support BIOS development during new product bring-up
  • Design and implement firmware/software testability strategies for Functional Verification Testing (FVT) at contract manufacturing sites
  • Continuously analyze and enhance firmware/software robustness for FVT
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues, proposing and implementing effective solutions 
  • Conduct failure analysis on contract manufacturer and field return units
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement within the team

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent experience
  • Strong proficiency in C and Python programming languages
  • Expertise in BIOS and embedded software development
  • Proven experience in PCBA bring-up and debugging
  • Hands-on experience with Linux OS, Bash scripting, and CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Buildroot, SCons) 
  • Familiarity with external interfaces such as CAN, Ethernet, USB, and Display, as well as internal interfaces like SPI, I2C, and UART
  • Familiar with electrical testing equipment and protocol analyzers
  • Knowledge of ARM or x86 System-on-Chip architectures, and debug tools using JTAG interfaces 
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic circuit schematics and understanding product security control is a plus 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams

Expected Compensation

$111,200 - $292,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
