Job Description

The Student Hourly Assistant, under general supervision, will be responsible for completing genomics training and research projects. A faculty member MUST sponsor the student to participate in the GREAT program.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct genomics and mentored research.
  • Attend scientific communications/journal club.
  • Participate in development workshops.
  • Attend science-oriented events.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
  • No prior experience necessary
  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours for the fall/spring terms.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum of 3.0 GPA.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Scientific knowledge in biology
  • Written & Verbal Communication
  • Critical Thinking

Other Requirements:

  • Must be sponsored by the GREAT Program (Collaborative Genomics Initiative Between PVAMU and TAMU).
