New York University

Description

The Davidson Lab at the New York University Pain Research Center (New York, NY) seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to investigate the neurobiology of pain. The lab uses a combination of physiology, cellular, molecular, and functional imaging techniques. The qualified candidate will assist with tissue acquisition and processing nerve and dorsal root ganglia from organ donors, induced pluripotent stem cell origin, and mouse models. Methods in the lab include cell culture, cell physiology, protein and gene assays, and fluorescent time-lapse microscopy. This position requires excellent communication, bench skills, high integrity recordkeeping, data analysis including statistical reasoning, and scientific writing ability. This successful candidate will build scientific relationships with members of the Pain Research Center and the scientific community at NYU and assist with training new lab members.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500 - $78,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Qualifications

The position is for a highly motivated researcher who holds a doctoral degree in biology or related fields. Strong laboratory and analytical skills, ability to follow protocol, effective written and oral communication, and efficient time management are essential. Experience with tissue and cellular methods, cell physiology, wet bench lab skills including under sterile conditions, microscopy, histology, imaging, molecular biology, and a scientific knowledge or an interest in somatosensation and pain are highly desirable. The position requires some irregular scheduling due to donor tissue timing.
