THE ROLE & THE TEAM

The Fashion Customer Experience Software Engineering team is looking for a talented Senior Full Stack Software Engineer who has a passion for growing, building applications and solving problems with a customer centric mindset.

Our team consists of a mix of Software Engineers, Product Managers and Designers with the mission of understanding customer needs and building solutions throughout all the pages and systems of Zalando's customer journey to bring innovation and improvements to Zalando's Fashion experience.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and Software Engineers to identify what our customers need most, design the solution to solve these challenges and take full ownership of developing it, from changing existing applications to creating new ones when needed. You will have the opportunity to solve problems using technologies like React, Node.js, TypeScript, Golang, Scala, Java, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, AWS Stack, event based architectures and much more. WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• As a customer centric software engineer you will have the opportunity to work very closely with product managers and designers to identify what our customers need most in their fashion journey at Zalando at the early stages of software development.
• You, together with a highly engaged team, will design and build solutions that will touch several systems, from different teams and written in a myriad of programming languages.
• You will build and operate new systems that will bring innovation to the Fashion Experience at Zalando.
• You will have a focus on team processes, automation, communication and collaboration to continuously make us better.
• You will grow your knowledge of Zalando's systems, and you will grow your skills to modify existing ones and create new ones.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

• You are a passionate full stack engineer and care about solving customer problems, regardless if they're in the frontend, backend, database, etc. 
• You have experience with frontend technologies, like React, TypeScript and Node.js. 
• You have experience with programming languages, like Scala, Golang, Java and backend technologies like relational and nonrelational databases, event based systems, etc.
• You take the ownership for your work – from understanding the requirements, to implementation, testing, and maintenance
• Data engineering and AI knowledge is a plus.
• You can thrive in a collaborative environment involving many different stakeholders, including people from several engineering and product teams.
• You have good and effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
