    TITLE:  Custodian

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:  

     
    1. Has a high school diploma or G.E.D certificate
    2.  Has the ability to read and follow written directions
    3.  Has the physical ability to perform heavy physical labor
    4.  Has the ability to lift and move objects weighing at least 50 pounds numerous times per day
    5.  Exhibits personal habits in keeping with the assigned responsibilities  
    6. Has demonstrated ability to relate and work well with people
    7.  Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities  
     


    REPORTS TO:   Principal

    J0B GOAL:  To provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, develop, and eat, and to provide staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place to teach and eat
     

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

     
    1. Be familiar with and follow written guidelines, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor related to job responsibilities
    2. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times
    3. Regulate heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity
    4. Shovel, plow, and maintain walks, driveways and parking areas, as appropriate
    5. Check daily to ensure that all exits are open and all panic hardware is working properly during the hours of building occupancy
    6. Raise the United States flag at or before 8:00 a.m. on each school day and lower it at assigned time
    7. Sweep, Mop, Wet-wash, and vacuum floors, and furniture and clean and polish fixtures and glass on schedule in assigned areas
    8. Clean corridors after school each day and during the day when conditions require it
    9. Scrub, hose down, and disinfect toilet floors daily, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily and during the day when conditions require it
    10. Remove waste and trash from building
    11. Wash all windows on both sides at least twice each year
    12. Perform such yard keeping as necessary to maintain safe and attractive environment
    13. Clean all chalkboards at least once a week
    14. Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation
    15. Report immediately to the Principal any damage to school property
    16. Remain on the school premises during school work hours, and during non-school hours when attendance is required by the Principal
    17. Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each day including lights, heat, windows and doors
    18. Move furniture or equipment within the building as required for various activities as directed by the Principal or designee
    19. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste
    20. Make minor repairs such as chairs, desks, and locks
    21. Perform daily cleaning of kitchen including waste and trash removal
    22. Shelve all deliveries in appropriate storage—dry, refrigerated or frozen
    23. Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
     TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • Hourly (Grade 20)
    • 8 per day
    • 40 per wk.
    • 260 days
    • 9 ¼ or 12 months
