The OB Technician is a professional caregiver working under the guidance and supervision of a Registered Nurse and responsible for providing assigned care according to scope of practice and to facilitate the delivery of perioperative nursing care by achieving desire surgical outcomes.
Has adequate knowledge to approach patients of all age groups. All employees will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
Assisting with prepping, clipping, and positioning patient on Operating Room Table
Preparing surgical instruments before and after procedure
Keeping count on surgical instrument with the RN (circulator)
Monitoring all members of the surgical team in order to maintain a sterile field during each procedure
Passing instruments and retracting tissues to help visualize the area of the patient where surgeons and surgical assistants are working
Operation of suction machines and diagnostic equipment
Learning operation of new instrumentation dependent upon specialty
Assisting with Vaginal Deliveries in caring for the mother and newborn as needed
Stocking of rooms
Computing and Entering charges and other clerical duties
Providing assistance and information to customers
Responsible for assisting in other areas of Women’s and Children’s Services including Women’s Health, Pediatrics, and Well-Baby and Level 2 Nursery.
Adheres to specific hospital policy and procedures and will continually monitor and adhere to safety responsibilities and initiatives.
Requirements:
Graduate from accredited surgical technology program
Associate degree preferred
National Certification Preferred
CPR Certified
NPR Certified
National Certification Preferred
