Nutanix (NTNX) is looking for a motivated and results-oriented Director, Systems Engineering to manage a team of Presales Systems Engineer leaders as part of the sales organization to achieve revenue targets and ensure customer success. You’ll oversee the development and engagement of System Engineering Managers who have responsibility for leading a team of Systems Engineers responsible for educating, consulting, assessing, architecting, and proposing Nutanix solutions with technical decision makers across all business segments. You’ll play an integral role in partnering with the Vice President/s and Regional Director/s, sales, product, and engineering teams to bring the maximum value of our Nutanix solutions to market and manage escalations for our customers and partners. 

Sales Engineering at Nutanix 

Our Systems Engineering & Solution Sales organization is made up of 800+ customer-focused technical sales professionals who are responsible for identifying and matching technology opportunities with the customer’s business issues and objectives, as well as channel partner training and enablement. This team also acts in a consultative fashion and is looked to as an expert in their field by the Nutanix sales, customer success, business partners, and customers. 

Your Role 

In this role, you will support field SE teams in complex evaluations, troubleshooting, and challenging customer environments. Recruit and hire new Systems Engineers and managers into the territory and provide mentorship and training to them once onboard. Build and maintain relationships with key customers in the territory. Act as a floating Systems Engineer Manager and fill in for existing team members if there is a resource conflict or need for vacation coverage. Take ownership of ensuring channel enablement is ongoing. As well as, 

  • Provide an escalation point for pre-sales and post-sales technical issues that arise in the territory
  • Foster channel partner relationships with their technical teams
  • Management responsibility for Systems Engineers in the territory including regular 1x1s with your direct reports, 2x2 meetings with your sales counterpart, expense management, quarterly check-ins, escalation conversations, etc
  • Set the overall strategy for the territory/region that you support and be able to communicate and execute that strategy. 
  • Ability to travel roughly 50% of the time within the region

What You Will Bring 

You are a humble leader with a bias for action. Essential to success in this role is a keen ability to operate with a ‘whatever it takes' attitude and motivation to do whatever is necessary to assist in closing a deal. Nutanix provides unrivaled support and tools from the Engineering, Marketing, and Product Development departments to leverage to exceed sales performance goals. In this position you will be working very closely with organizational Executives and have a large amount of influence on decisions and initiatives. 

  • You have 10+ years of experience as a Sr./Pre-Sales Systems Engineer.
  • You have 3-5+ years of experience in a management role and 2+ years of experience in a management role managing other people leaders.
  • You possess deep knowledge of the virtualization and storage markets as well as design capabilities.
  • You have strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent work experience).

With his dedication and strategic approach, he quickly moved into managing EMEA Emerging Markets, where he has been leading with distinction for the last 5 years. Before Nutanix, Paulo spent 16 years at Cisco, working in diverse roles across Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. In September, 2023, Paulo took on leadership for our EMEA SE organization. he's looking forward to progressing the work that's currently underway and excited to move Nutanix business to the next level across the region."
