Product Engineer (Gas Valves) – Robertshaw®

Role Purpose

Developing product solutions to the white goods, commercial and industrial industries utilizing clean burning and energy efficient gas components. The primary responsibility of the Product Engineer (Gas Valves) is to develop new products, improve existing products, and provide technical support. The Product Engineer (Gas Values) will plan, organize, integrate, and complete engineering projects within the gas valve area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with sales, marketing, and management to establish specific goals in support of company business, for both new product development
  • Supports completion of programs, e.g. technical studies, preparation of specifications and technical plans, product design, and testing, etc.
  • Ensures product conformance to sound engineering principles and practice, applicable industry, government, and customer requirements and related specifications; demonstrates same by detailed analysis and/or test as required.
  • Keeps abreast of the latest technology developments to ensure the company sees available opportunities for technical improvements in products and services, and/or cost reductions.
  • Submits proposed design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.
  • Prepares and presents periodic progress and special reports as required.
  • Follows formalized project scheduling and control procedures for engineering projects.
  • Lead overall product development projects as assigned.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve quality issues on existing products.

Education & Experience

Required

  • BS, Mechanical Engineering and 2+ years of Experience.
  • Gas valve experience is a plus.
  • CAD experience.
  • Experience with designing plastic molded, die cast, and stamped metal parts.
  • Experience in all aspects of product development from prototype through production is a plus.
  • Experience interfacing with customers.
  • Creativity and innovation in design work while keeping project goals in mind.

Preferred

  • Creo or Solidworks experience
  • Experience in electro-mechanical devices including water valves, mechanical timers, controls.
  • Electrical design experience with solenoid coils or small synchronous motors a plus.
