Yahoo Finance UK is looking for an energetic reporter to take up a 12-month contract working out of Brussels.

You will create and develop strong contacts in order to build out exclusive content to make Yahoo Finance UK a go-to destination for the most authoritative and exciting Brexit news and analysis.

You will have an in-depth understanding of the complex financial stories at the heart of Brexit; speak to the political players making the decisions; and report on how the Brexit negotiations will affect ordinary people.

Video will also be a crucial area in which Yahoo Finance UK will increasingly operate and you will be expected to thrive in this environment.

Yahoo Finance UK’s Oath in Three Words: Make Money Work



  • You will publish content that will increase the profile of the Yahoo Finance UK brand and help grow the site.

  • Brexit will be your primary focus, but you will also be expected to understand major developments in the world of European finance and politics and connect them for Yahoo Finance UK’s audience

  • Report into the Senior Economics Reporter and liaise with other Editors over the promotion of content.

  • From time to time, you will be required to help with the day-to-day running of the site, which will include programming the Finance mobile and desktop experience as well as running breaking news alerts.

  • You should expect to appear in front of camera on a regular basis, where you will provide insight and analysis on stories affecting the UK and Europe

  • You will be comfortable using data analytics platforms to understand Yahoo Finance UK’s audience and interpret that data to inform editorial strategy

  • Work flexible hours in order to meet the demands of a digital newsroom


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA or BS degree – preferably journalism-related

  • Ideally Two to three years’ experience in journalism and digital media

  • An excellent knowledge of European Union processes and structures as well as the importance of key players in the Brexit saga as well as a passion for the field of financial reporting

  • The ability to quickly learn new content management systems and data sources


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Track record of success in a fast-paced news environment

  • A passion for and knowledge of social news tools and channels

  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams
