Job Summary: MWT Maintenance Internship program is designed to prepare highly talented, self-motivated individuals
for future maintenance careers with H-E-B. The 2 year internship offers college students an Associate’s degree the
opportunity to combine work experience and professional development with formal education. This program offers an
opportunity to work in an environment that allows learning, investigating maintenance career choices, and applying
education with on the job learning in areas including:
- Technical Skills:
- Electricity
- Robotics
- Fluid Power
- Mechanics
- PLCs
- Industrial Troubleshooting
- Manufacturing Core Exercises:
- Safety Culture
- Visual Workplace Organization
- Lean Manufacturing
- Problem Solving
- Machine Reliability
Interns will work approximately 20-30 hours a week in a business unit located at the San Antonio Retail Support Center.
Interns will receive a company overview, training, and exposure to H-E-B Leadership.
In addition to practical on-the-job training, interns will be challenged with assignments / projects relevant to the assigned
business unit. Each intern will receive a final evaluation to assess his/her performance to review goals, and to discuss
future career paths.
Essential Functions / Process Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as necessary):
- You will work approximately 20-30 hours a week in a business unit located at the San Antonio Retail Support Center -
Manufacturing, Warehousing and Transportation facilities near I-35 and Rittiman Road.
- You will receive a company overview, training, and exposure to Senior Leadership
- In addition to practical, on-the-job training you will be challenged with assignments and projects relevant to your internship
and business location.
- You will receive a final evaluation to assess your performance, to review goals, and to discuss future career paths
- Upon successful completion of your internship, you may be considered for full time position’s in H-E-B’s Manufacturing
and Industrial Facility Service’s Maintenance departments.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Enrollment in an Advanced Manufacturing Technology degree program, or a current Partner who is college ready for
enrollment.
- Long term career interest with H-E-B
- Strong academic record (3.0 GPR preferred)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exhibit professionalism and work in a retail work environment
- Computer skills in MS Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database administration)
- Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Key Competencies
- Effective written / verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong organization and time management skills with ability to multi-task and attention to detail
- Possesses personal leadership skills
- Working knowledge and experience in the area of business
Physical and Other Requirements
- Must be able to function in a fast-paced industrial environment
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, reach overhead and side to side throughout shift (adjust as
needed)
