Position Summary

BCG’s Knowledge Management and Collaboration (“KMC”) group is a growing, global team that drives knowledge management strategy, program implementation and operations for BCG.  The KMC team drives our knowledge strategy as well as develops the business cases, defines the scope and provides overall management of major knowledge management platforms and programs, including efforts in areas such as machine learning/artificial intelligence, expertise/reputation management, search, content management, social collaboration/communities, taxonomy, analytics, business request management and other related areas.  KMC team members include Product Managers, Project Managers, User Experience (“UX”) specialists and Business/Functional Analysts.
 
We are seeking a strong candidate with significant and extensive UX strategy and interaction design experience to fill a Senior Experience Designer (“ED”) position within the KMC team at BCG. The ED will be responsible for user experience, design and implementation of a new Knowledge Intelligence Platform at BCG, working closely with a diverse product team. He/she should have a strong understanding of design thinking, human-centered design, and human computer interaction as well as be fluent in the latest design and technology trends. The ideal candidate is an experienced UX researcher, design leader, an innovative problem solver, and a strong collaborator who excels in a fast paced environment.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Degree in design or related fields
  • 6+ years of professional experience as an Experience Designer
  • Proven experience delivering concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, etc.
  • User experience design skill set including data-driven analytics capabilities, and a working understanding of related technologies
  • Professional portfolio of multi-modal designs that demonstrates creativity and problem-solving
  • Working experience with Sketch, Adobe CS, and InVision
  • Proficient in key software packages such as Axure and Photoshop. Sound knowledge of web and mobile technologies
  • Ability to prototype user experience with readily available tools
  • Familiarity with Jira, Basecamp, or other similar release management/collaboration suites
  • Strong Powerpoint, Word and other presentation technology skills
  • Experience working with consulting or business services firms is a plus
  • Experience in the area of knowledge management is highly desirable

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive design and user experience testing activities for the product team, leading activities and processes related to all user interaction and design aspects of the product
  • Plan, develop and incorporate user research and usability testing as needed to iterate on product solutions
  • Translate user insights into concepts, personas, user journeys, storyboards, system maps, user flows, wireframes, visual design comps and prototypes with Sketch, Adobe CS, InVision, etc.
  • Balance stakeholder/user needs with the product’s main user goals, as well as functional and technical feasibility
  • Implement best practices & maintain design consistency by researching and sharing industry trends, competitors, and comparable experiences
  • Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams including consultants, product managers, engineers, marketers, and senior management
  • Communicate the product’s vision and articulate design decisions and trade-offs to Partners and internal stakeholders, both verbally and visually
  • Conduct analyses of real usage data to inform UX optimization efforts
  • Develop and manage collaboratively with other UX specialists a repository of key UX assets for sharing and reference across the firm
  • Drive root cause analyses to respond to UX performance issues
  • Remain attuned and knowledgeable about key design/functional trends and exemplars across a variety of emerging technologies like AI, IoT, VR and AR
  • Support product marketing efforts with design knowledge and capabilities
  • Partner with internal IT engineering teams to ensure designs are properly implemented
  • Effectively negotiate trade-offs with product management and engineering
  • Work with marketing to follow the correct BCG brand guidelines for all products
