The Senior Solutions Architect is a member of the Enterprise Architecture group and is under the general direction of the CX/DX Consulting Architect. The Senior Solutions Architect is an individual contributor role that will lead architecture activities for the dealer experience (DX). The Senior Solutions Architect will provide leadership, guidance and collaborate with stakeholders to plan, structure, and organize solutions and strategies around the DX portfolio. Key products in this portfolio are the Dealer Experience Hub. 

DX is a new focus for Enterprise Architecture in Ford Motor Company. The Senior Solutions Architect will get direct contact with business leaders as well as Enterprise Technology leaders in Marketing Sales & Services. The DX mission is to improve the experience for dealerships for interacting with Ford Motor Company. This role will expose the architect to many interesting technologies and services to help make the dealer more efficient when interacting with Ford Motor Company systems. This role also will also expose the architect to business and information architecture since many recommendations will need to be made directly to the business. This role will be able to impact and influence the dealer experience for sales and servicing vehicles.

Responsibilities and Objectives

  • Collaborate with product teams develop and shape product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Lead Business and Information Architecture learning sessions.
  • Listen to stakeholders and identify underlying needs and goals to create the optimal solution for customers.
  • Perform analysis and research to provide data driven recommendations to product teams for solution designs, integration methods, and solutions to problems.
  • Present / pitch architecture insights and recommendations
  • Collaborate with product teams to establish and leverage principles, methods, standards, and best practices to sustain the maturity of products.
  • Provide guidance on application design by assisting product teams with interoperability, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, technology and security risks.
  • Assist in defining the interaction between application packages, databases, and middleware systems in terms of functional coverage.
  • Provide the architecture point of view for shaping features and prioritization of features for planning, including driving solutions to adopt Enterprise Technology directions such as cloud computing.
  • Participate in vendor corrective action meetings as required, providing suggestions or alternatives to solve problems.
  • Comply with company Information Security Policy and Procedures.
  • Identify and manage application development risks that could jeopardize the growth and/or operations of the company.
  • Identify and track application design concerns including integration problems or gaps in functional coverage.

Education, Experience & Desired Skills 

Education: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or other information technology oriented major is a must; a Master degree is preferred. 

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a technical role in Information Technology
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a software engineer or solutions architect. Experience with engineering technology components is a plus.
  • Experience with Business A.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to demonstrate a solid background in application development, application design, application development methods, and application life-cycle management. 
  • Must be able to demonstrate a solid background in business or information architecture
  • Ability to author, present, and articulate problem sets and associated solution elements in settings supporting customers, business development, program delivery, technical teams and executives.
  • Candidate must be able to influence others, demonstrate peer leadership skills, and work as part of a team. 
  • Candidate must be self-motivated. 
  • Candidate must be able to facilitate and work collaboratively on analysis and design, and must be able to instruct and mentor others. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of TOGAF / Zachman or other architecture frameworks
