Overview:

The Stroke Coordinator (SC) role and purpose is to provide program leadership, management, strategic direction, and financial control of the stroke Program. The Stroke Coordinator is an active member of the Performance Improvement and Peer Review Committee. He/She is responsible for the leading role in neurology care with participation and development of the stroke prevention/early response program. The SC is the collector, keeper, and reporter of the Stroke Registry. The SC is responsible for meeting all the HIPAA regulatory requirements in data submission to the appropriate entities. Also, the SC is responsible for preparing reports for committee meetings related to strokes. The SC assists and interfaces with the ED, physicians and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
  • Experience: Neurology Experience, Minimum 2 years acute care experience.
  • Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
  • Certification/Registration: BLS
  • Other skills & knowledge: Skills in program management related to data, operations, presentations, and budgeting. Skills in public relations and development of professional relationships with EMS, Media, Referral hospitals, etc. Is proficient in the use of State Data Dictionary and the Registry Software. Computer Skills with basic Microsoft Office programs.
