Responsibilities 

  • This role is responsible for end to end financial control and reporting, regulatory and management reporting for the Australian Branch. Ensure accurate and timely financial reports are prepared and presented.
  • Manage and deliver the month end process, and ensure accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the deliverables.
  • Review and prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis and provide insightful analysis commentaries.
  • Collaborate with Operations to ensure accurate transaction accounting and reporting.
  • Prepare and contribute to improving the financial control environment. This includes (but not limited to): document and maintain operating procedures and guidelines, periodic risk and controls self assessment (RCSA) and implement process improvements initiatives.
  • Collaborate with finance and other cross-functional teams to effective internal controls through the Australia Branch. This includes Operations, Product Control, Businesses stakeholders etc.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly regulatory returns in compliance with APRA requirements.
  • Prepare tax returns and filings (corporate tax, GST, Withholding etc) to ensure compliance with tax obligations.
  • Deliver financial control and management reporting related to the Trading and Treasury businesses. This may include FX hedge, P&L reconciliation and collaborate with Product Control and traders.
  • Prepare tax returns and filings (corporate tax, GST, Withholding etc) to ensure compliance with tax obligations.
  • Review the finance processes for standardisation & automation and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance internal controls.
  • Assist with operational matters (e.g. accounts payable, payments and fixed assets) as required
  • Coordinate the year end audit with Auditors and Australia Branch personnel.
  • Ad hoc projects as required.

People

  • Provide coaching and training to local finance team, other support units or business areas to develop understanding of finance requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain close engagement with key stakeholders including Head of Finance, Local Branch Management, Group Finance and Group Tax colleagues.
  • Summarise and present finance and regulatory reporting related matters in sufficient form and simplified content to enable understanding. 

Requirements 

  • Minimum 4+ years’ experience in audit or financial control role in a profession service environment of a Big 4 accounting firm.
  • ADI or foreign ADI banking experience is a must
  • Chartered Accountant/ CPA.
  • Postgraduate academic qualifications such as MBA or Masters are highly regarded.
