We are looking for a Content Specialist to join our Marketing team in San Mateo, Ca or Denver, Co.

TEAM STRUCTURE & WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: 

As a Content Specialist reporting to our Marketing Manager, you’ll help create and lead marketing and app content at Meru Health as the first full-time copywriter.

YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Content creation for marketing needs
  • Craft persuasive and empathetic copy for email marketing campaigns that resonate with our user base, driving engagement and conversions under the direction of our growth marketing manager.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to understand campaign goals and target audience, translating insights into compelling narratives and new content.
  • Develop clear and concise content for various marketing materials such as flyers, wellness portal tiles, and blog posts, ensuring consistent messaging across different platforms.
  • Assist with other marketing initiatives and projects as needed, contributing creative ideas and insights to support the overall success of the team.
  1. Lead messaging alongside marketing leaders
  • Update messaging and content for specific clients to ensure alignment with their unique needs and preferences.
  • Create new content approaches to deliver key messages
  1. Incorporate SEO practices
  • Refine website copy to improve clarity, relevance, and SEO performance, ensuring that all content is optimized for search engines.
  1. Create and manage editorial calendars
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop content strategies and editorial calendars that support our marketing objectives and drive results.
  1. Support the Product team with copywriting and editing for in-app experiences.
  • Leverage your app writing experience to create in-app messages, notifications, and user interface text that enhances the user experience.
  • Work closely with the product team to align messaging with the overall app functionality, maintaining a seamless user journey.
  1. Incorporate a mental health focus into your work
  • Bring a deep understanding of mental health concepts to your writing, infusing marketing content with empathy and authenticity.
  1. Timely content
  • Maintain a quick turnaround time without compromising on the quality and effectiveness of the content.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  1. Skills needed:
  • Alignment with our values and passion for our mission
  • Able to write inspiring and engaging content
  • Exceptional editing and proofreading skills
  • The ability to develop and execute content strategies aligned with business goals, target audience preferences
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and external partners, as well as to engage with the audience through various channels.
  • Proficiency in using WordPress to publish and manage digital content.
  • Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) principles and techniques to optimize content for visibility and ranking on search engines.
  1. Work experience needed:
  • Proven experience as a copywriter, with a strong portfolio showcasing email marketing content, marketing materials, and app-related writing.
  • Experience working with health focused companies.
  1. Knowledge, education, and/or training needed:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Familiarity with mental health terminology and concepts, with the ability to convey them in a relatable and sensitive manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and familiarity with content management systems (WordPress) and email marketing platforms.
  • A passion for mental health advocacy and destigmatization, reflected in your writing approach.
  • Proficiency in adapting writing style and tone according to different communication channels and target audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and proofreading skills to ensure error-free content.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and integrate feedback seamlessly.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE: 

  1. Improved engagement metrics: Through your writing and content strategy we hope to see an increase in content engagement.
  2. Enhanced conversion rates: We’ll see an increase in program starters with higher engagement content
  3. Content creation arm at Meru Health: you’ll help drive and create all new content that the greater Marketing and Product team will be able to leverage to build more dynamic content

In addition to the achievements identified above, here is what to expect:

At 90 days:

  • Conducted a comprehensive content audit to assess existing marketing and product content assets and their performance. 
  • Start creating and optimizing content assets.We’ll start to see an improvement in marketing content such as open rates.
  • You’ll have a solid understanding of Meru Health’s features, functionalities, target audience, and value proposition. This involves closely working with the product team to familiarize themselves with the product roadmap, user feedback, and any upcoming updates or releases.

At 6-months: 

  • You’ll be creating content that is ranking well on search engines
  • You’ll have collaborated with the marketing team to launch integrated content marketing campaigns that effectively promote the app and drive user acquisition, retention, and engagement.

At 1-year: 

  • You’ll own the content arm at Meru Health and drive all new content
  • Implement more advanced content personalization and localization strategies to cater to diverse user segments 
  • You will have established our founder Kristian as a thought leader in the Mental Health space. This may involve contributing guest articles to industry publications and participating in relevant forums or communities to showcase his expertise and innovation.

  • Competitive base 85k-100k depending on experience
