Background & Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Head of Factory for the direct accountability, leadership, and oversight of the Capex Investment, Engineering initiatives including, Infrastructure, Energy savings, Safety, Health & Environment and Food-Safety governance. 

This role is particularly unique as this individual will play a key role in leading transformation projects for the Jonesboro which is a strategic site for Beauty & Wellbeing and networking across the business with key stakeholders.

The role also supports the sites continuous improvement (UMS Unilever Manufacturing Systems) journey to zero defects, zero waste and zero losses and benchmarking across different sites on the journey to world class excellence.

Who You Are & What You’ll Do

  • Capital Project Delivery including product innovations, process optimization, and utilities
  • Large Scale Project Management, Planning, Cost Control and Post Launch Evaluations
  • Capital Forecasting and timely entry and close out of projects in capital software
  • Support sustainability plan with stakeholders to reduce energy consumption and reduce utility baseload
  • Create technical Standards to ensure process stability
  • Support PSM, Health and Safety, Quality and R&M looking at engineering asset maintenance and the associated engineering strategy to deliver greater asset reliability and reduce operational cost
  • Support waste and Loss elimination according to the WCM prioritization process using AM, PM, FI and QC pillar tools and methodologies
  • Drive and follow Unilever Global and NA procurement plan to ensure the supplier selection and management fulfil business objectives
  • Meet measured deliverables around:
  • Project Delivery on time, on budget, and to quality and safety standards
  • Operational Excellence metrics
  • Sustainability and utilities improvement targets
  • Waste and loss minimization targets

This position regularly oversees Unilever’s financial processes, optimizes methodologies as well as develop and monitor capital expenditure projects. He/she also leads Unilever’s Capital Project Implementation and technology systems in supporting the implementation of innovative projects in the Dressings Category for Unilever Canada.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • Must have a 4-year degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering or similar
  • The successful individual must be a strong people leader and have a strong passion for creating culture change & taking people along with them on the journey
  • Must have obvious enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work and be able to charge forward with a challenging and pioneering spirit
  • Must have the ability to manage and influence key stakeholders and able to cater messaging based on audience.
  • 5 years minimum experience in Engineering
  • Knowledge of CSAZ432 (Safeguarding) and OHAS Sections
  • Must have very strong experience in project management, particularly in planning, scheduling and cost control
  • Technical and supervisory experience in a combination of electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, instrumentations, automation, and/or computer fields required
  • Must have the ability to read, develop, and change schematic diagrams, equipment and architectural drawings
  • Comfortable on managing projects on control system projects (SCADA);
  • Ability to negotiate effectively with outside contractors and vendors is required
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present findings and rationales clearly for a variety of audiences, including non-technical ones
  • Ability to clearly understand operating principles and establish correct operating standards while visualizing clearly what the ideal production system is
  • Must have experience with cost engineering and be able to make logical decisions based on data
  • Experience in statistics and process control tools preferred
  • Experience in refrigeration and utilities management preferred
  • Monthly report to the Project Board which consists of the Engineering Director, Finance Director and Projects Director

Pay: The pay range for this position is $113,400 - $170,200. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.

Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.

Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
