Position Summary

Under the leadership of Country Medical Lead, the Medical Team provides comprehensive and proactive Medical Services that encompasses, as appropriate, partnership in the commercialization of in-line and launch products, medical information, pharmacovigilance and all other BMS activities. Country Medical Lead plays a key role in the development of local medical plans including plans and metrics for field medical teams and overall brand plans. Country Medical Lead is key in designing partnership with Commercial, Market Access and Regulatory and other BMS departments.

Position Responsibilities

Leadership Role

  • Country Medical Leadership: Act as a member of the Turkey Market
  • Operating Committee, contribute to the overall goals of BMS Turkey organization through effective cross-functional collaboration
  • On behalf of BMS, foster effective and open relationships with Turkish partners, External Experts, healthcare providers and government officials.
  • Supervisory responsibility as a line manager for the Medical team in Turkish organization: Scientific Advisors, MSLs and Medical coordinator.
  • Participate actively in price and reimbursement pre-works, discussions, negotiations with government bodies / sick fund in the different therapeutic areas based on the collaboration with Turkish partners.
  • Collaborate with the Regional medical teams, build effective and efficient working practices
  • Build country reputation and visibility at the international level.
  • Support the development Brand Strategies in collaboration with BMS commercial and Turkish teams, by communicating medical insight and knowledge about the product or disease area, in particular with reference to patients needs and treatment trends
  • Develop Turkey Medical Plans, in collaboration with Turkish partners define the most effective Medical activities in the given region
  • Manage unexpected events or issues from Medical Affairs perspective
  • Promote a culture of innovation, constructive challenge, team spirit and accountability within the Medical Department.
  • Utilizes an effective decision making process, demonstrates superb judgment, decisiveness and applies a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment that enhance the success of BMS.
  • Role model BMS values and behaviours

Degree Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Medical Degree (Physician)

Experience Requirements

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 10 years industry experience, preferably in an international environment.
  • Line management experience and strong leadership capability.
  • Strategic Medical Affairs experience / capabilities.
  • Experience in the Turkey regions health care environment.
  • Oncology experience and knowledge is an advantage.
  • Matrix management experience and building effective working relationships between Clinical, Medical, Regulatory, Marketing, Market Access, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducting complex negotiations within a pharmaceutical environment, both internally and externally.
  • Expert knowledge of local and regional regulations and BMS SOPs.
  • Fluent in English and Turkish

Promotional/Non promotional Activities Reviewer

  • Assess promotional and non-promotional activities to ensure that all claims are fully supported by scientific data, and are presented in an accurate, fair and balanced manner.
  • Coach Scientific Advisers on work with the commercial team, in particular contribute with scientific expertise to promotional activities.
  • Ensure effective review and sign off procedures for promotional and non-promotion materials/events.

Compliance

  • Endorse and implement a culture of compliance
  • Adhere to all internal and external rules and regulations
  • Convey a clear message on legal and ethical standards to Expert Physicians and Investigators
  • Develop an understanding and competence of GMA SOPs, Industry code, GCP and ICH, as well as local laws and regulations
  • Alert management or the Compliance Department to any possible compliance issues
  • Act as a role model who demonstrates consistent ethical and professional behaviour

Pharmacovigilance

  • Support full compliance with Adverse Event reporting to meet local and BMS regulations
  • Ensure roles and responsibilities for managing Adverse Event reporting at local levels are clearly understood
  • Support external communications when safety issues arise, with the wellbeing of patients being the ultimate goal

Key Competency Requirements

  • Experienced in adult learning methodologies.
  • Instructional design experience with excellent verbal and written communication, customer service, team-oriented with project management skills.
  • Strong business expertise and ability to understand business strategy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects in a dynamic and ambiguous environment.
  • Skilled in consulting, influencing and interacting with Sr. Leaders.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills a must.
