At RJE, as an OSP Engineering Technician, you’ll be is responsible for the design, pricing and drafting of both copper and fiber facilities. This involves all aspects of OSP Engineering, including pole replacement, customer and road relocations, new service order build outs, Ethernet, FTTx, etc. .

What you’ll do as an OSP Engineering Technician

  • Be responsible for work order packet creation which includes field notes, drafting in NDS and creating construction prints
  • Work with municipalities to acquire permits, ROW, etc.
  • Develop plans for new plant construction and/or upgrading existing construction plant
  • Monitor the project(s) during early and late stages of design and construction
  • Ensure the most cost-effective solution is being utilized
  • Monitor and control project expenditures
  • Be the face of the customer and have positive interactions with internal and external customers

What you’ll need 

  • To be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorization to work in the United States for this companyBrightspeed/Lumen/CenturyLink experience is a plus
  • Brightspeed/Lumen/CenturyLink experience is a plus
  • 1-2 years design experience in the telecom industry with a high focus on fiber technology
  • Be self-motivated and energetic
  • Outside plant knowledge (fiber and copper build, FTTx, pole line construction)
  • A technical background
  • Able to read and interpret DOT plans, be able to identify any conflicts with the existing facilities and find solutions in the most cost-effective way
  • Willing to travel within the customers territory

This position requires both field and home office work. Must live in or be willing to travel to the CenturyLink/Lumen territory in the Martinsville, VA area.
