As an engineering leader at Zocdoc, you’ll be a driving force behind the mechanics of Zocdoc’s bold journey of creating a future healthcare experience that puts patients first. You will influence and shape the team focused on building our enterprise suite of products that will drive transformational scale and help us to become their digital center of care.

In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to build the Pune engineering arm of an international organisation.

What you’ll do:

  • Recruit, hire, and lead a high quality engineering team with close collaboration and communication with local leadership as well as NY based leadership and engineering teams.
  • Lead strategic planning to achieve goals within timelines by identifying and prioritizing development initiatives and setting timeframes for development and deployment
  • Maintain a high bar with respect to SDLC: Code Reviews, Pair Programming, Accountability, Automated Testing, Minimum 80% Code Coverage, etc…
  • Organize the first ever Zocdoc Pune Hackathon
  • Be an effective and inspiring leader. Empower and grow our elite team of product engineers, setting them up for success and professional growth. This requires setting and maintaining your team’s roadmap, establishing clear cut expectations and goals and fostering an environment in which the team thrives.
  • Partner with Product leadership to create a high-level framework that outlines a plan to innovate and bring new products to market, thinking through testing and gaining traction.
  • Communicate with and get buy-in from executive stakeholders and teams across the company.
  • Flex your technical muscles. With a strong hand in architecture, you’ll make sure we are building out the platform’s capabilities with attention to scale and speed. You’ll seamlessly bridge the gap between new products born in the cloud (AWS) and legacy systems.

What’s required:

  • 8+ years of experience shipping complex, scalable consumer facing experiences to millions of users (preferably within the technology/software industry).
  • 6+ years of experience leading, growing, and mentoring engineering teams, 2+ years of which have involved indirect management
  • Experience designing and architecting powerful, horizontally scalable systems in service oriented environments. Knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS is a plus.
  • Outstanding communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and build consensus among contributors at all levels.
  • An analytical, pragmatic problem-framing mindset. You have the ability to build a high performance engineering culture while handling pressure with grace and poise. A problem solver at heart, you approach complex problems as opportunities for improvement and inspire your team to do the same

Timely Access to In-Network Care

While the national wait time average to see a provider is 24 days (Merritt Hawkins), 40% of Zocdoc appointments take place in the next two calendar days and the most common appointment takes place in less than 24 hours. Zocdoc expedites access to care by uncovering the “hidden supply of care” – the up to 20% of appointments that become available last-minute due to cancellations and reschedules – and surfacing it, in real-time, to patients seeking care through Zocdoc’s online patient self- scheduling service. This technology ensures that a provider’s time is fully utilized and dramatically decreases wait times for patients, leading to easier, faster access to care.
