Our client, a leading healthcare provider for the past 30 years, is looking to add a caring and compassionate medical Assistant to their team! This is the perfect opportunity for Medical Assistants who are new(er) in their career, and are looking to learn and grow within an organization! The average patient volume sits at about 15-20 patients daily (depending on Walk-Ins & Appointments scheduled), as the team recently added a newer provider that is building out their network. At times, finding the right practitioner can be a challenging process, but with our client, patients can find care and comfort in a much easier and more management process. The selected Medical Assistant will support 2 practitioners throughout their weekly hours of operation, alongside one other Medical Assistant! This opportunity runs on a Monday through Friday basis, with the MA expected to arrive around 7:45am and depart around 5:00pm - with a starting rate of $18/hr (based on experience). While working this opportunity, your days may be structured as following:

Daily Duty Breakdown:

30% of time spent in-office:

  • Rooming patients
  • Obtaining blood pressure, weight, temperature, and medical history
  • Documenting current signs/symptoms

25% of time spent in-office

  • Setting up for procedures and assisting providers with procedures, which could include:
  • performing dressing changes,
  • catheterizations,
  • removing castings, removing sutures and staples,
  • breathing treatments,
  • ear washes,
  • assisting with cast application and DME fittings,
  • EKG’s,
  • urinalyses, strep/flu/pregnancy tests, and other misc. tests as directed by the provider/dependent upon the specialty practice.

10% of time spent in-office:

  • Schedules tests, radiology exams, and appointments with specialists as requested
  • In the meantime, you will be entering all information pertaining to check-in/check-out in the EMR. Will Perform prior authorizations as needed. Notifies office referral specialist when insurance referral is required.
  • Phone triage when scheduled - duties may include: answering patient medical questions, providing test results, completing medication refills, and giving call-backs to patients. Triage duties also include faxes/calls/transmits prescription refills as directed
  • Functions as a resource to visitors, providers and staff- greets everyone promptly and courteously. Communicates clearly and continuously supports the Mission and Values of the organization.

5% of time spent in-office:

  • Performs additional duties not addressed here as assigned by the Practice Administrator, practice site provider and/or the VP of Physician Practices.
  • Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Hospital policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

Skills:

  • Experience with Medical assisting, Patient Care, and/or Customer Service
  • Emr, Cerner, Electronic health record, Appointment scheduling,
  • Certified in BLS, EKG, CMA
  • Experience with Pediatrics, Family, or Internal Medicine

Must Have:

1) Active CMA (AAMA), RMA, NCMA or CCMA certification required (Successful completion AND graduation from a recognized medical assistant training course)

2) Hight School Diploma or GED

3) An upbeat, positive, outgoing attitude and not afraid to "jump in" when needed to ensure consistent patient flow and positive interactions from patients

4) Able to stand for long periods of time

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-3 years working as a CMA
  • Experience within family practice or pediatrics
  • POC testing
  • Experience with Cerner (or EMR systems in general)
