Business Unit

Central Engineering is KLA-Tencor's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. These differentiate KLA-Tencor not only in WHAT we do, but also in HOW we do it.

SQE’s mission is to enable quality consciousness at every step of software development and deployment that leads to superior customer satisfaction. SCM, test automation and product quality engineering are key functions of SQE that drives internal software quality through CI/CD and external software quality through full flow software testing, exploratory testing and customer collaboration to release the differentiated products at KLA-Tencor.

We are seeking a Software QA Manager at our Chennai, India campus.

Responsibilities

As the Software QA Manager, you will assist in the development of a QA testing program, definition of test cases, quality test planning, and the implementation of standard reporting metrics. We are looking for a highly skilled individual with excellent leadership qualities that can help our team achieve an even higher level of success.

To be successful in this role, you must have strong software fundamentals, experience designing reliable and scalable test frameworks, incredible attention to detail and passion for the discipline of software validation. You don't rest until problems are fully understood, root caused, resolved and revised test cases for standardization. You use data and metrics to drive decisions and communicate status, and thrive on creating order from ambiguity.

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Develop QA approaches that fit the overall strategy, overseeing the execution of test plans, and monitoring the progress of testing.
  • Work closely with various software functional groups to define and develops strategies to improve software quality
  • Engage with customer on regular basis to understand use cases and translate that to correct end to end test cases
  • Oversee the execution of test plans and monitor the progress of testing and ensure test coverage meet the requirements of our Customers
  • Improve the overall QA process, identify gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and suggest improvements
  • Act as a strong advocate for quality in the product development process for software engineering
  • Report quality metrics and key performance indicators
  • Authority to determine release readiness and to stop the release train from leaving the station
  • Should be able to understand IC Design and its use in developing wafer inspection solutions and test cases
  • Contribute to the quality of the solutions by identifying issues in architecture/design and implementation
  • Review software design, change specifications, and plans against and/or process requirements.
  • Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Produce a concise and clear picture of product quality for the project from concept to product release
  • Perform or coordinates verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate/Masters/Bachelors with relevant experience in CS/CE/EE/EC/ or equivalent field
