Essential Responsibilities

  • Strategic responsibilities:

Help design and implement world class statutory and tax processes, including the necessary IT, people and organizational structure investments.
Implement representative process metrics which measure the wing to wing resulting improvements in speed, cost & quality of the S2T processes
Manage the Big 4 relationship to drive efficient & effective audit processes (audit planning, debrief meeting, audit fees …)
Manage the relationship with Tax Advisors & Country Tax Directors to drive efficient & effective tax processes (CIT/ VAT/WHT tax returns preparation, tax audit support, FAS 109 completion…)
Work with R2R/ business finance teams to drive Tax Compliance in a timely and efficient manner
Identify, document and drive compliance with local Statutory & Tax requirements
Drive the implementation of regulatory change in the region
Play a key role in supporting key S2T initiatives across the region & global including but not limited to: Strategic ERP implementations, Stat @ Source, HFM, OneSource, VRT/GVT, TPC etc.

Operational responsibilities:

Ensure operational aspects of all statutory & direct & indirect tax filings are executed flawlessly. Timely and with high quality.
Perform S2G, S2T, RTA reconciliations for all GE business management entities under the local GE branches in STIR (Stat Tax Information Reporting tool) while working closely with the S2T technical team
Ensure highest controllership standards are followed throughout the Stat & Tax filing process
Fully own the process management & execution for the entities under your scope
Compile, review and validate baseline pack elements (Filing Ready & Audit Ready). Escalate and follow on open queries in Smart Sheet if documents are not compliant with the local regulation or if any supporting documents are missing for local Stat/tax filing, audits performed by external auditors (Big 4) and local tax audits performed by the local authorities.
Prepare the Statutory Financial Statements and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) by management entity and perform consolidation (including intra-branch eliminations).
Support the financial audits and coordinate efforts with GE businesses
File the Statutory Financial Statements (as required) and CIT (as required) return and complete the financial audit accurately and on time
Facilitate early CIT self-assessment through audit ready BLP readiness. Follow a risk based approach for entities in scope of self-assessment
Work with the Tax directors to address tax inspection queries to drive a positive assessment

Role Summary/Purpose

The S2T leader is responsible to ensure all S2T related activities in the region are grouped under the management of one high performing Team covering statutory filing, Direct and Indirect Tax returns. Work closely with the MENAT and SSA S2T lead and the global team to implement world class processes for all legal entities in line with the Global Enterprise Standard.


  • College degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 3+ years of experience with Statutory/Tax filings preferably within GE or with a Big4 CA (SA)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, IFRS & ability to identify locally driven G2S differences & tagging
  • Must have valid authorization to work full-time without any restriction in the role’s location
