Our Architecture team in Florida is looking for a driven and curious Senior Design Manager to support a confidential client capital improvement program. This entails the design management and contract administration of Architectural/Engineering services and sub-consulting firms providing contract documents for new facilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer various design transition meetings and coordinate all reviews for due diligence items accounted for, not accounted for, and/or not needed; communicate this information in various report formats to capital programs leaders.
  • Assist in the development and review of the assigned programming criteria for multiple projects. Notify Program Director if there are omissions or discrepancies.
  • Assist with due diligence reports and site approvals.
  • Maintain Design Summary Sheets for each project. Summary sheets should contain project name, scope description, and key contacts (architects, consultants). For new/replacement projects, the summary sheets should include site considerations and proposed phasing descriptions.
  • Ensure design team understands document management requirements.
  • Verify that design and code requirements have been defined by the project team and have been indicated on the design documents. Code requirements include life safety and building codes.
  • Establish design review sessions using Bluebeam (and hardcopy reviews as necessary). Assist and coordinate team and client SME plan reviewers in interpretation of design documents. Obtain timely design review signoffs from key end-users.
  • Conduct a high-level review of the design documents (drawings & specifications) to assess compliance with Owner’s Standards, Design
  • Requirements, and the approved programmed criteria.
  • Review submitted design documents to verify the quality of submissions comply with industry standard requirements.
  • Review architectural drawings to assess document coordination and finish schedules.
  • Assist in preparing/updating specifications and design requirements documents.
  • Monitor schedule milestones associated with design (including design submittal dates, design review periods, and estimate milestones).
  • Notify Program Director and Program Scheduler of delays or potential delays.
  • Ensure Design Issues List is maintained for each project by the project team and distributed to client personnel as necessary. Track the resolution of issues and alert the Program Director if timely responses are not received.
  • Conduct design meetings with the project team on a regular basis to assess design progress and quality. Meetings shall be conducted at a frequency consistent with the stage of design and shall generally be more frequent during the earlier stages of design. Include the senior project manager in these meetings.
  • Ensure that the assigned programmed criteria is updated at the conclusion of each design phase.
  • Maintain design checklist in preparation for transition to construction.
  • Ensure that the requisite State, fire marshal, and building code reviews occur at the appropriate design milestone (as applicable). Assist in the reconciliation and implementation of comments received.

Here's What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's of science degree in Architecture
  • 15 years of extensive and demonstrated experience in programming, planning, design reviews, and schedule management with increasing job responsibilities.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Master's degree in Architecture
