The New York Times is looking for two full-time staff editors with extensive, high-level experience to join our team of designers in the News Print Hub, which is responsible for producing the daily sections of the newspaper. The job requires superior design skills and the flexibility to adapt to changes throughout the evening under tight deadlines.
These editors will be responsible for helping to design, organize and book out various sections, working closely and collaboratively with other editors to direct content presentation while also doing high-level design work on many presentations. Successful candidates will possess stellar news judgment, an ability to create cohesive and inviting pages and the skill to translate digital-first presentations to print.
Candidates must have prior experience in coordinating and designing standalone sections, and the ability to come up with original concepts to tell a visual story using all available tools. Candidates should have previous experience in feature design and the organizational skills to plan and assemble special sections.
A minimum of five years of experience in layout at a daily newspaper or magazine is required. You should also be proficient in InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Work hours will include evenings and weekends.
