VG has been the market leader for more than 20 years in digital publishing in Norway, and is today one of the most successful news sites in the world. We strive for creating the best journalism out there and we have ambitious goals for how we create the best user experience, -engagement and –revenue.
It is time to take it to the next level and on that journey we need a world class Product Manager.
Working with VG you will be a part of Schibsted’s Product and Technology organisation and work closely with well known news brands across Norway and Sweden. Our publishing teams are in it to reinvent our publishing products. We want to leap from products being desktop and anonymous by design into an ecosystem of personal- and device-agnostic products, all enabled by our own digital-only publishing platform for the modern newsroom. Schibsted’s publishers are highly passionate about both independent journalism and nailing a great product experience for their loyal user base.
Our purpose is to contribute to a functioning democracy by closing the gap between what citizens know and what they need to know about the world around them. VG aims to be the primary news destination in Norway, and to be a trustworthy news provider founded on facts and insight in a world where information is becoming increasingly more abundant and untrustworthy.
To achieve that purpose, we are aiming at delivering simply the best news destinations there are to our users. In all honesty we’re not quite there yet, and we still have a lot of untapped potential. That is why we are strengthening our development team.
The publishing teams’ products as a whole reach more than half the population in Norway and Sweden - on a daily basis. In other words, it’s an amazing laboratory for product innovation.
We need passionate people to ensure we’re able to reinvent publishing in a way that meets user needs and preserves independent journalism and editorial accountability. Do you have a visionary mind and a fearless desire to challenge the status quo? Do you want to develop brilliant products that touch and delight many people in the everyday life?
If this sounds tempting, then being a Product Manager in Schibsted Media is the right place to be. It’s about taking an idea and guiding it through development to launch and beyond. You will set the product vision and strategy based on a profound understanding of the users’ needs, prioritize and guide development, and finally make sure that the product ships with maximum impact. You will be the evangelist of the vision, both internally and externally, and be the voice of the user when working closely with engineering, design, sales, and marketing. You will be flexible, have a holistic view of the product and take pride in having full responsibility of the product’s success.
Being a Product Manager is not easy, but for the right person it is probably one of the most fulfilling, satisfying and fun things you can do!
