CLINICAL RESEARCH COORDINATOR II - (T214838)

Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Ped - Neonatology, is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II. This position is expected to work closely with other UAB team members and in partnership with UA and other sites in this large, nationwide consortium. This position will work directly with mothers and infants/toddlers to schedule multiple study visits, collect data via MRI, EEG, and cognitive and behavioral assessments for young children and their parents, and enter and upload data to the consortium. This position requires a flexible schedule to meet the research protocol goals of brain imaging for infants and toddlers while also meeting participant’s scheduling needs. The individual will serve as a liaison with medical staff, University Departments, ancillary departments, and/or satellite facilities related to UAB and other clinics.

The Healthy Brain and Child Development (HBCD) Study is investigating trajectories of infant brain development. Mothers and infants from diverse backgrounds are enrolled in the second trimester of pregnancy and followed over multiple years.

General Responsibilities

  • To serve as a liaison with medical staff, University Departments, ancillary departments and/or satellite facilities.
  • To organize patient enrollment planning.
  • To conduct quality assurance activities.
  • To compile and analyze data.
  • To develop and implement procedures, maintain records, track progress, and conduct quality assurance on data collected.
  • To serve as a mentor to junior staff, including student assistants.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Manages different aspects of the protocol, including supplies needed, and forms.
  2. In conjunction with Investigators, plans and implements the clinical protocol's goals and objectives.
  3. Maintains the study’s compliance with institutional and consortium requirements.
  4. Completes Report Form in Loris or other according to protocol.
  5. Assists with the development of standard operating procedures in the UAB site. Prepares and participates in site visits.
  6. Participates in ordering equipment or other supplies needed for the study.
  7. Acts as liaison between study personnel and data entry personnel.
  8. Coordinates patient care and/or patient follow-up functions of the clinical study including planning and developing related activities.
  9. Arranges access to study medications, including authorization for prescriptions.
  10. Employs strategies to maintain recruitment and retention rates.
  11. Prepares and submits multiple levels of research documentation (i.e., IRB, IND, or FDA submissions, educational materials, reports, grant renewal reports, and study forms).
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Annual Salary Range: $50,050 - $81,330

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.

Preferences

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Communicative Disorders, Child Development, Cognitive studies, Social Work, Neuroscience, or related field.
  • Persons hired in this role will be required to have knowledge of databases used for this protocol including Ripple, Loris, redcap, and others.
  • Experience in clinical research or infant/toddler medical or educational care OR.
  • Experience with single IRB.
