Global Sourcing Manager (Information Technology)



Role synopsis

The Global Sourcing Manager IT oversees the IT category for GBS Procurement Services, ensuring that IT sourcing, tactical procurement and tail spend management are executed efficiently whilst delivering supply reliability, value (quality & price) and innovation to the IT and business organisations.

Key accountabilities

Category Strategy Implementation

  • Accountable for the development of IT category management services in support of the segment procurement teams and their associated category strategies.
  • Work with segment PSCM/business stakeholders to define category requirements, and ensure the GBS Procurement Services category team are aligned with their stakeholders.
  • Drive effective IT category decisions through provision of business intelligence data and information.
  • Ensure the IT category strategy execution activities are compliant with BP policies such as risk management, delegation of authority and relevant segment functional guidelines.
Sourcing Services
  • Lead the execution of all delegated IT sourcing spend, managing the high complexity inherent in the sourcing of IT goods and services.
  • Ensure that all sourcing, tactical procurement and tail spend management activities for the IT category are executed in line with GBS Procurement Services processes, and identify any exceptions to the process.
  • Lead and support the identification of process improvement opportunities, and work with the relevant stakeholders to define the opportunity, and implement where accepted.
  • Create a supplier development strategy, to identify potential new suppliers that can be developed and provide alternative sources of supply to BP.
  • Balance business needs, company risks and supply market capability to deliver maximum value for the category.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as the IT category escalation point for business and segment procurement stakeholders.
  • Work with senior segment PSCM/business stakeholders to build the sourcing pipeline for the IT category.
  • Act as a key member of the GBS sourcing leadership team to ensure that activities are coordinated across all GBS category teams, and report on the performance of the IT category team in accordance with the GBS Procurement Services requirements.
  • Attend Extended Leadership Team meetings with segment PSCM teams, as required by segment stakeholders.
People Management
  • Participate actively in GBS Procurement Services talent management processes to develop skills and capability within the team that provides developmental opportunities and meaningful career paths for members of the service delivery network.
  • Support the development of the new organisation culture, in line with the GBS Employee Value Proposition to retain and attract the right talent, and encourage a high performing culture.
Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE)
  • Comply with all BP’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) policies and procedures and all HSSE directions of line manager or HSSE Manager.
Participate in HSSE training and discussions, workplace inspections and audits, assist in the resolution of Health & Safety issues, and contribute to successful implementation of HSSE programmes and initiatives

Essential Education

§ Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain, Business or related field.

Essential experience and job requirements

§ 10+ years of sourcing/category management experience.
§ Significant experience in managing teams in complex organisations and developing people.
§ Experience in Ariba; SAP/SRM; Emptoris is an advantage.
§ Excellent commercial and contractual negotiation skills in a complex and global environment.
§ Broad understanding of IT Services Arena in a large scale global organisation including areas such as Networks, Data Centers, Workplace Services, Cloud Computing, Telecoms, Security Services etc.
§ Experience of working with IT Industry standards such as ITIL, etc.
§ Thorough understanding of the relevant IT Services supply market, main suppliers and industry trends, drivers and levers.
§ Knowledge of contract terms and conditions including performance management, SLA’s and continuous improvement.
§ Expert in building stakeholder networks, and influencing business stakeholders to the delivery of procurement services.
