Position Description:

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our client's (155 Wellington St W, Toronto) at a minimum 3 days per week - subject to change at any time.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The primary focus of this role is to provide re-engineering expertise, covering design, implementation and support of the RM applications, namely Aggregation of Market Risk and Market Data Shocks and Scenarios generation. Additional focus will be to work with other internal application development teams.

A technical expert in developing, coding, testing and debugging new software or making significant improvements to existing software. Experience and expertise must be significant to support the software design phases. Could be responsible for overall design, development and team coordination on the business system/application. Significant independent judgment is to be used and will be expected to act as a technical leader on projects.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • 5+ years application development experience in Hadoop, Spark and Java/Scala.
  • 10+ years application development experience in Java and Spring Framework
  • 5+ years in developing and optimizing Big Data applications using Java/Scala and Spark on Cloudera/HDP.
  • Experience in developing/designing micro-service architecture.
  • Extensive experience in one of the cloud providers AWS/Azure and migrating large scale complex projects from on-prem to Cloud including in-between hybrid options
  • Proven hands-on experience in containerization – Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift etc.
  • Experience in developing applications in Spring & Spring Boot
  • Working knowledge of Jenkins CI, Git, CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders – business and technical

Nice to Have

  • Experience in building data pipelines on AWS/Azure and/or Databricks
  • Knowledge in Market Risk/Capital Markets/Banking.
