The mission of the Product Manager/Senior Product Engineer is to ensure the development of the product, its standardization and its evolution in liaison with the technical / development team.

The Product manager’s main missions are:

Elaborate the Product Road map for the product development as per the market requirement,

Set up the objectives, and associated required resources (hours and expenditure) and maintain a follow-up of the latest product.

Coordinate with all ALEJ resources to achieve the development objectives, within the defined budget and schedule.

Develop, use and maintain the Product Group tools ( PAP, Capitalization table, Budget Follow-up)

Pilot the development of the technical solution and develop necessary deliverables in compliance with Air Liquide Standard Management System and Group Safety Rules.

Provide support to Proposal Group and to Project Execution teams on the Product.

Capitalize the project and operation experience and ensure the design upgrades

Ensure the continuous improvement of performance & competitiveness of the Product.

Support WBL for benchmarking the competitors’ products

Participate in the convergence of technical solutions with other AL group engineering entities for the product

Define and organize the necessary training related to the product/development deployment in ALEJ.

Communicate with the E&C global function products line(s), on request.

Maintain the Business Solution in line with the company’s development strategy.

Supports communication and understanding between the people involved in product development and the management of the company.

Note:

A Group manager is defined as a manager who manages a plural teams or functions

A Team manager(*) is defined as a manager who manages each discipline team or functions.

(*) A manager becomes a line manager and is defined as a team manager when company management recognizes the manager's team management ability and appoints that ability to perform in the business.

A manager is defined as an engineer with a senior level of knowledge and competence dedicated to a particular discipline or functions.

Normally, Group manager and Team manager are assigned by the company management or by recruiting.

The tasks to be performed in general in the course of the product development including market research,, process design and proposal described in the Department Procedure KOB-PR-16-0-2 and Front End Process Directive G-DIR-18-1-1 . For proposals with limited scope, complexity and contract volume the individual tasks shall be adjusted appropriately. For further detail of global requirement, , refer to the IMS_GP12.

Quality, Safety and IMS:

Ensure the compliance of the Product to AL technical & safety standards; coordinate with responsible Design Authorities of TED, with respective experts, and with Group IMS requirements, ensure code adaptation when applicable

Contributes to achieve “Zero accidents”

Contributes to implementation of safety relevant principles, standards, rules and procedures

Application of applicable all AL IMS standard

Operative effectiveness:

Issue and follow-up the Product Development scheme / roadmap, in accordance with SDD Department Manager, Standard Plants Product Line (e.g. through Project Charters) and the concerned business line (e.g. WBL-EL) if any.

Pay attention to whether the proposal work will proceed as planned through close communication with the Group manager and related departments.

Ensure contribution for the good governance of a team (FtO, PRI/PRA, Project Classification and Proper Risk Board , A-Meeting & B-Meeting Documentation, Proposal Hour Management, …)

Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.

Cowork with Proposal & Estimation Group with the technical solutions, cost sheet review, follow-up with Procurement Department.

Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from proposals and requiring coordination with other departments

In charge of ensuring that best practices are followed, goals are met, and projects and related operations are conducted effectively

Definition of a clear scope matrix

Hours in line with proposal budget

Quality of proposals and its acceptability by Customer 

Ratio of order, order amount

Best practice archive and sharing

Development and Competitiveness:

Guide and lead cross-functional teams to manage product strategy, 

Guide or lead cross-functional teams to manage the life cycle of products

Capitalize and ensure continuous improvement and competitiveness on product performance and cost.

Establish and maintain awareness and understanding of customer and market needs and competitive positioning.

When necessary, act as primary negotiator with internal customers to solve issues. Seek out and establish external partnerships which bring value to product offerings.

Develop/update the product catalog

Organization Effectiveness and HR:

Support Proposal Team in initiating Product Application Plan

Support Proposal & Estimation Group with the technical solutions, cost sheet review, 

Support Project Execution on the technical solution

For Manager

To be a good consultant for target setting of engineers

Communication with other discipline managers & project managers to coordinate resource allocation with respecting project schedule

At the request of the group manager, prepare an intermediate resource plan and training plan for the team.

Organize regular team meetings to care and follow-up the team. 

Clear, reasonable and challenging target setting of group member.

Work Experience:

Minimum 5 years working experience in the related field: Discipline or Project engineering
