Position Summary

Aetna Better Health of Virginia, a division of CVS Health, is looking for an individual with experience in health care marketing, community development & outreach, thought leadership, and people management. This is an exciting opportunity to create best in class experiences for Medicaid members and their families and truly make a difference through collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and members to lead initiatives that drive growth and retention while also positively impacting health equity and reducing disparities in the populations served. This role has direct ties to the health plan executive leadership team, allowing support in strategy and direction.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create the marketing vision and strategy for the health plan with comprehensive plan and ability to drive results while complying with state regulations
  • Develop valued partner relationships directly with community-based organizations, providers, external entities, venues, and / or influencers for the purpose of creating, enabling, and nurturing membership retention, growth, and/or sales opportunities
  • Work to develop, market, and drive utilization strategies for value added member benefits, collaborating with key areas within the organization to maximize performance of programs
  • Develop and execute innovative outreach and marketing strategies and tactics to support membership growth and retention, innovation and member and provider experience in the assigned territory
  • Drive smart growth in membership and market share in designated area by developing solid relationships within the health plan and across segments and departments to align externally facing strategies (network, marketing, clinical, pop health, and quality)
  • Create prioritization process for assets creation and own communication programs to ensure partners are aware of project status and “latest and greatest” assets for use
  • Create measurement and reporting program, and leverage insights to refine strategy and inform go-forward approach
  • Manage local Medicaid field-based outreach campaigns and develop outreach strategies that engage teams across segments and other lines of business where appropriate
  • Must be able to align growth strategies to address local market priorities and unique requirements to assure delivery of contractual requirements
  • Conducts market research and competitive analysis to drive outreach strategies and initiatives to gain market share
  • Manage impactful relationships that drive engagement with key stakeholders, influencers, community-based organizations and faith-based organizations
  • Develop and implement provider engagement strategies (including field-based approaches and face-to-face visits) in partnership with network partners that specifically focused on membership growth and retention
  • Orchestrate signature member events, potential consumer events, community-based goodwill and general awareness events
  • Manages sponsorship inquiries and allocations
  • Represent the health plan at state meetings, regulatory audits/reviews, community events, and media relations opportunities
  • Demonstrate / apply understanding of applicable laws, regulations, contracts and compliance requirements
  • Strategize with enterprise marketing department on development of marketing campaigns and educational materials to use for growth 
  • Identify and coordinate volunteer activities to give back and strengthen relationships with organizations serving the community
  • Lead and manage a team in a fast-paced environment while positioning each team member for future development and growth
  • Manage complex projects and marketing budgets
  • Collaborate with the Medicaid leadership team and other growth partners
  • Encouraging others through positivity, vision, confidence, challenge and recognition.
  • Set goals for change and lead purposeful efforts to adapt work that aligns with an organization’s vision
  • Influence key stakeholders across the enterprise and execute strategic priorities
  • Complete accurate and timely State reports, ensure Member Advisory Council meetings are performed per contractual guidelines, and perform submission of community events for prior approval
  • Lead or support any initiatives/projects that have impact to member growth, education and retention, and partner on state calls where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

  • Must reside in Virginia
  • 10+ years of experience in health care or managed care industry, Medicaid preferred
  • 5+ years developing growth/community outreach strategies and tactile plans
  • 3+ years of leadership and people management experience
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in marketing field
  • 2+ years experience working cross functionally with leadership in a matrixed structure
  • Possess a valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 30% of the time within assigned territory (Mileage is reimbursed per our company expense policy)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience with MS Office Suite Applications and performance tracking databases (Salesforce)
  • Established professional relationships with community-based organizations (CBOs), faith-based organizations, providers, and local agencies

Education

Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications/other relevant area of study or relevant experience.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,500.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
