Position Summary

BCG’s Knowledge Management and Collaboration (“KMC”) group is a growing, global team that drives knowledge management strategy, program implementation and operations for BCG.  The KMC team develops the business cases, defines the scope and provides overall management of major knowledge management platforms and programs, including efforts in areas such as machine learning/artificial intelligence, expertise/reputation management, search, content management, social collaboration/communities, taxonomy, analytics, business request management and other related areas.  KMC team members include Product Managers, Project Managers, User Experience specialists and Business/Functional Analysts. 

We are adding the role of Senior Product Manager, Intelligent Knowledge Platform to our KMC team in order to build and drive a new product management team dedicated to developing a completely new and innovative, machine learning based intelligence platform at BCG.  In this role, you will be on the leading edge of key knowledge, collaboration and data driven technologies.

We are seeking experienced, innovative candidates with a strong passion for knowledge, data/analytics and/or machine learning to fill a Senior Product Manager position leading a new team with a focus around machine learning- driven knowledge delivery.  The new product team will drive the design, development, evolution and rollout of a key new intelligence platform that will serve as a core element of our future knowledge capabilities at BCG.   Candidates should possess an entrepreneurial drive, meaningful SaaS-type product management expertise, ideally in the data analytics and machine learning domain, as well as experience with knowledge based software products or similar technologies.

Basic Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant SaaS software or digital platform product management experience required
  • Consulting or other professional service industry experience preferred
  • Experience managing software product development and a user-centered design product team in a SaaS-type environment required
  • Deep experience with agile development processes and best practices required
  • Knowledge and experience with data analytics or machine learning product management strongly preferred
  • Experience with artificial intelligence with machine learning and/or natural language process required
  • Experience with knowledge management and collaboration concepts, technologies and trends preferred
  • Some travel (including international) may be required, expected to be less than 25%

Job Responsibilities

Product Strategy, Development & Engagement

  • Drive the product innovation, vision, design and future roadmap for a new knowledge intelligence platform, in alignment with BCG’s overall knowledge strategy, as well as other firm initiatives
  • Design and grow an exceptional product management team instilled with highly effective product management capabilities and operations, utilizing Agile methodologies
  • Serve as a collaborative thought leader, leveraging internal BCG as well as external expertise in relevant areas in order to bring the best possible solutions to the table
  • Establish long-term product planning processes and activities, integrating efforts with other workplace digitization initiatives, functions and stakeholders
  • Effectively manage stakeholders' expectations while building credibility with senior stakeholders through a strong business sense and balancing of priorities
  • Collaborate with BCG data scientists and analytics experts to bring “best of breed” solutions to bear in the product solution
  • In collaboration with data scientists, establish training processes and procedures for the intelligence platform in order to effectively tune it to BCGs needs
  • Instill a strong prioritization of user-centered design and a focus on user experience as a key focus for the overall product team
  • Lead all branding, communications and change management activities for the platform
  • Work with legal and risk management to proactively address issues associated with confidentiality and data privacy

Business Requirements Gathering & Prioritization

  • Collaborate with CKA leadership, the product owner, users and the product team to evaluate and recommend innovative solutions and capabilities that address critical business needs
  • Work with key stakeholders to align product team around future product requirements growth, including long term strategic product planning
  • Align with technology team management to create and establish the development team or partnership, defining system scope, integration requirements and functional objectives based on user‐defined needs
  • Ensure an ongoing customer/user feedback capture via multiple channels and methods
  • Manage multiple team members in support of product development and requirements gathering efforts

Product Development Planning

  • Lead and organize the prioritization of product capability enhancements, functional improvements, operations and user support
  • Set and adjust product release schedules as appropriate
  • Manage overall team productivity, quality and effectiveness
  • Leverage knowledge of the KM and Collaboration technology space to identify potential solutions outside current technology stack that may solve business requirements

Product Training & Support

  • Collaborate with the product owner and team members to create business requirements documentation
  • Lead product team to create clear and complete architecture, design, and specification documentation in collaboration with other stakeholders
  • Work with stakeholders, IT and other functions to grow the support model and channels for assistance
