Your responsibilities

The Africa Assurance and Audit Digital Innovation team is looking to hire a talented Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Software developer to assist in building tailored AI and innovative solutions for our Assurance business.

You will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and support of these AI and Software solutions. These solutions are designed to monitor and facilitate process operations, enhance productivity, maximise efficiency and mitigate risk in the business. You will also be responsible for writing and modifying code, debugging software and providing support post-implementation.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Designing, coding, and implementing scalable AI solutions
  • Design, build and deploy AI and software models and algorithms.
  • Assist other developers in understanding and using AI tools.
  • Maintaining and upgrading existing solutions.
  • Test, maintain and recommend AI tools to ensure strong functionality and optimisation.
  • Create technical and process documentation for reference and reporting.
  • Managing user access and permissions.
  • Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and best practice.
  • Work with Business Analysts, Business Owners and other developers to define and deliver projects.
  • Support the launch and implementation of solutions as well as providing post-implementation support in resolving any potential issues to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Develop and deliver training to non-technical members of the Audit team in order to facilitate understanding of AI principles and technologies.
  • Work with experienced team members to conduct root cause analysis of issues.
  • Testing and debugging code.
  • Troubleshoot and debug AI solutions.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Software Programming or Information Management.
  • 3+ years of experience in an AI development role.
  • Knowledge and familiarity of AI technologies (Azure AI Services, OpenAI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Anomaly Detection, Predictive Forecasting, Retrieval-Augmented Generation and similar technologies).
  • Familiarity with Robotic Process Automation and Microsoft 365 platform, data storage, analysis, reporting tools and technologies (Azure SQL, Azure Analysis Services, Power BI, Power Automate, Power Pivot, Power Query & Power View, SharePoint etc) advantageous.
  • Experience working on a variety of AI development projects.
  • Proficient in programming languages like Python, Java, R or C++. Other languages are advantageous.
  • Comfortable communicating with other developers, Business Analysts and Project Managers and business stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of software development life cycle processes, agile development methodologies, software design and testing.
  • General knowledge and experience in working with databases (Relational and non-relational).
  • Experience in analysing and visualising data in Microsoft Excel, Power BI or TIBCO Spotfire advantageous.
