As the Quality Assurance Specialist at Avery Dennison, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to give shape to the Quality Assurance discipline for Avery Dennison Materials IT.
This is a very hands-on, highly cross - functional and visible role, where you will work collaboratively with the IT teams to develop validation strategies across multiple levels of test environments and technologies, design and implement testing frameworks to execute these strategies and drive decisions on feature/release readiness.
You will be responsible for building a strong culture of quality throughout Avery Dennison's IT partner group, allowing them to function autonomously while balancing speed of delivery and quality. This role is a mixture of technical leadership, project management, process guidance and coaching.
To be successful in this role, you must have strong software fundamentals, experience designing reliable and scalable test frameworks, incredible attention to detail, and a passion for the discipline of software validation. You don't rest until problems are fully understood and demonstrably, provably resolved. You use data and metrics to drive decisions and communicate status, and thrive on creating order from ambiguity.
Review existing QA practices (code, design and tool standards), identify gaps and improvement opportunities and create a plan to implement.
Plan and drive execution of black box, white box, automated testing strategies to improve efficiency; execute proofs of concept where necessary.
Use data metrics to drive quality and work with the support and project teams to integrate these metrics into their everyday practice.
Work with IT PMO to fuse Quality Assurance as part of the project delivery lifecycle; define QA deliverables for different stages of project execution.
Collaborate with the Architecture and Business Unit IT leads on tool selection.
Validate adherence to defined framework and practices; drive action for continuous improvement.

Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree preferred.
Familiarity with setting up testing environments for .NET Applications preferred.
Certification(s): ISTQB, CSTE, QTP certification is preferred
Minimum of 4 years of experience in Quality Assurance required
Experience in managing or leading a team of technical resources is prefered.
Strong experience with distributed/enterprise systems required.
Prior experience with application testing and test creation required.
Prior experience with testing consumer grade software and systems required.
Strong software engineering background and development life cycle knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience)
Knowledge and understanding of agile methodologies is preferred
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are required
Expertise with test automation, planning and execution systems (Selenium, Quality Center) is required
Knowledge and understanding of databases and messaging systems is is preferred.
