As the lead development manager in Chennai, you will collaborate with Product Line Marketing (PLM) and Technology Architects to scope investigate new product requirements, engage with the Engineering Team to estimate and scope new projects, work with Program Managers build software release plans and track project progress, interact with Information Development team to ensure that all new features and capabilities are properly described in customer publications, manage field escalations from the Sustaining Team that require software developer resources, interface to the Quality Assurance (QA) Team to insure high quality EXOS releases, and provide leadership, motivation, coaching, and “roadblock” elimination for the development team.

Job Duties:

•Provide leadership and direction to the Data Center Protocol SW Development Team. •Listens to the team and works to remove obstacles that are preventing the development team from operating efficiently.

•Engages with key customers to refine new product feature requirements. •Develop staffing, resource, and cost plans for new projects. •Effect delegation to make best use of team’s skillset to achieve program goals. •Conduct informative and collaborative team and department meetings to keep employees aware of company direction and goals. •Track project status to make sure deliverables to internal customers, such as QA, Publications, Support, and Marketing are met. •Maintain quality goals for development projects. •Negotiate external contracts associated with new development activities. •Provide periodic project status to Program Management and Senior Management. •Support the Sustaining Team in closing customer escalations for team owned protocols. •Investigate root causes for systemic issues and propose solutions to processes, procedures, and policies to effect positive change. •Provide yearly formal employee appraisals and quarterly informal appraisals to employees. •Reinforce the Extreme Networks vision and help employees see how their efforts meaningful contribute to that vision. •Periodically travel to other Engineering sites located in Chennai, India and Salem, New Hampshire, to meet with peers and formulate development strategies. •Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or an MBA with emphasis on technology management. •15+ years of software development experience and 3-5 years of management experience.
